Great breakfast/lunch/brunch place! My husband and I rarely get the opportunity to have a brunch date so we just decided one Saturday to have one. We are so glad we opted to go here. Oddly enough, we have passed by here so many times but never noticed it. It’s a cute restaurant and I love the atmosphere inside. While the inside is a little darker, so much sunlight comes in and it looks nice. The waitress was so pleasant and warm to us. Definitely great Southern hospitality.Onto the food – I ordered the brisket hash (w/o the BBQ sauce…I love hot sauce with my eggs…don’t hate) and my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy. I LOVED my dish. The brisket was perfect. My eggs were cooked perfectly as well. The meal as a whole tasted great and I really enjoyed the smokey twist to a traditional hash. My hubby also enjoyed his dish; he barely could finish half of it.All-in-all, this place is definitely worth it. Reasonably priced. Delicious food. Great service. Fun atmosphere. Can’t go wrong!
Told this was great place. Wrong! Place was not busy but 40 mins after we placed order, no food. Waitress said when she entered our order on her electronic order pad, it must have shut down. Wrong, she took our order on a regular paper order slip. Told food would be out shortly. 1 hr after placing order, food was delivered. 1 order was wrong, 1 had eggs not fully cooked, and the order of biscuit & sausage gravy, well it looked liked finely chopped bacon not sausage, very little taste. The gravy – not enough to fully soak into biscuit- had so much garlic was not able to eat it. Would not go back!
Yum, yum, yum! Every time I come I get the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich. For my 2 sides I get the Brunswick stew and mac and cheese. It is the best meal ever. I always have an orgasm when I am eating here! Thank You!
This place is terrible. Turkey is dry and no smoke flavor. Served more dark meat than white. BBQ sauce is weak and Brunswick stew is watery.
I love this place. I had the BBQ pork sandwich with the Crooked Q sauce and potato salad. Absolutely delicious! He had brisket and brunswick stew. He says its the best Brunswick stew he’s had in Atlanta. We have decided to use this place to cater our Fourth of July party. I went at a friends recommendation and i am glad I tried it. My fianc and I love to try different non chain restaurants. Two thumbs up.
Below Average Food. My husband and I love smoked meat. We do barbeque travel and cook at home. I read the reviews of Crooked Tree Caf with anticipation. When I went in for take-out, I ordered a sampling including the pork, brisket, Brunswick stew, beans and potato salad. The best thing was the potato salad. The pork was so salty, it tasted brined. The beef had no smoke flavor at all, was mostly (undercooked) fat, and tasked like roast beef. I wonder if they mistakenly gave me roast beef? My husband liked the flavor of the beans, but they were severely undercooked. The Brunswick stew was watery and greasy, with very few vegetables. I was pretty disappointed. I had wondered why I was the only customer; now I know. The owner was friendly.
Refreshing and Updated Take on Southern Fare. The other day I was craving something new for lunch. While I am a Smyrna resident and know the dining scene, I was surprised when I plugged in a google search for Vinings restaurants and saw the Crooked Tree Cafe. When you walk in, you see cook books from culinary intellectual power houses out there today. Then, you are greeted by the chef himself. The chef talked me through the menu, and I was very pleased with the food results. My meal was outstanding. I had the BBQ salad with pickled veggies. It tasted nothing like my Southern palate has enjoyed in the past…it was different. This chef is using brines, vinegars, and local ingredients for a new take on southern. I left full and with a take out order for dinner. Bon Appetit!
