Stopped in for lunch today. I really like the exposed brick walls, it’s a nice touch. The staff is nice and friendly. As for the food, I had the Turkey Rachel with Pasta Salad and enjoyed it. There was plenty of turkey and the sauce was good, while the rye bread was perfectly toasted. The pasta salad was nice and light. It has olives and feta in it and tasted pretty good. It’s definitely a good place for lunch and it’s easy on the wallet.
3rd stop….Jacks New Yorker Deli. So far, I have tried Tommy’s and The Starlight Cafe and now I venture into Jack’s New Yorker Deli. I ordered the Patrick hot sandwich with fresh cut fries, done in house. This visit was not good. Bread burnt, corn beef dry and the fries were soaked in oil and the fry was very limp because of that. I literally left all my food in my basket and the young lady, who worked there, picked it up, looked at me and just walked off. I was begging for her to ask how my meal was, but no go. I am not the person who goes out of my way to complain and 99% of the time I eat what is presented to me, but not this time. Very disappointed. Won’t be back.
I have no idea denisa Wilson is talkin about. I am a long time customer to this location and every sandwich is perfect. It is always consistent and the staff is extremely friendly. She is probably biased because one of her reciews for Starlight Cafe (which is right next to Jacks New Yorker Deli) states that she was the owners daughter. Take it from a loyal customer this place is fantastic.
Dry meat. Meat was not juicy and not a good deal overall
I eat b’fast here 3-4 days a week and lunch another 2-3 days. Fantastic folks and the food is always great.
Pastrami was tough and dry
Nice Breakfast. First time at this particular Jack’s and had a solid breakfast. Eggs done perfect and a nice bagel in place of toast. Potatoes appear right out of the sysco bag with no particular personality other than a lot of added pepper (not complaining because without the pepper they would have had absolutely no flavor at all)… would probably skip them next time. Nice folks behind the counter and open early on the square (ok, maybe a half a block off the square) make this a good option if you’re headed into any of the city/county buildings and need breakfast or lunch.
