Excellent breakfast and service. Had the Nashville hot fried chicken; crispy and spicy. Biscuits and gravy were delicious. Only negative was the coffee was bitter.
My family stopped in on our way to Nashville. A little ways off of I75, but worth it. This place is killing it with their fried chicken and French toast. Service was quick and very friendly. Do yourself a favor, and get here for some truly tasty food.
Another chicken dining review. One should think I know my chicken.. But this one takes top prize for chicken biscuit. The biscuit is perfectly mixed and baked to a fluffy golden top. The marinated chicken breast, properly seasoned, then fried. The marinate make the perfectly cut chicken breast juicy.. All in all the has to be the best I have eaten.
Best Chicken Biscuit I have ever eaten.
And I’m not a big fan of chicken and waffles so I was a little nervous about this. But they are famous for it – so I tried it. Boy was I surprised!! Pleasantly. Chicken was cooked perfectly as was the French toast and I would definitely get this again. Actually hoping to get back soon for the spicy potato hash and omelette… Decisions, decisions. Btw: Great staff and owner too!
The Case of the Sloppy Sandwhich and the Rude Manager Who Tried to Defend it. I was excited to visit the newly opened eatery called ‘The Local’ in Marietta Square. I live nearby and my friends, family, and book club try to eat at every restaurant in the Square at least once per week. I must say the food that I ordered on Saturday 7/26/14, was terrible! I ordered a Pastrami sandwich with fries. Note: my daughter ordered this sandwich a few weeks before and it was great. But this particular day was different. First of all: the food looked as if it was thrown together; very, very sloppy. The bread was barely toasted, the meat was subpar, the cheese was gooey (and not in a good way) and oily. The absolute worst part was the coleslaw: it was wet and caused the bread to be soggy. I couldn’t eat this mess after one bite. The Owner came over to my table to explain why the sandwich was soggy and the bread barely toasted etc. He was extremely rude, defensive, and argumentative; I was shocked that the owner of an establishment would behave this way while trying to promote his business (after all, we don’t HAVE to eat here. There are plenty of other restaurants to choose from in the Square, all with amenable owners and tidy, good sandwiches) and embarrassed that this scene occurred in front of my family. He refused to actually listen to my complaint, instead talking over me and justifying the poor quality of the sandwich. Finally he decided to offer me a refund. After this experience I will never eat at The Local again, nor will my family and book club group. I gave this restaurant 1 star, but I would have preferred 0 if possible.
