This is one of those places that I classify as undeniable goodness. Have yet to be disappointed and I always keep coming back. Just wish they were open for dinner a few nights per week! Wish they had more seating, too.
Can’t miss best burger!. I am so disappointed in myself that I drove past this little spot for five years and never stopped in. I recently stopped in after hearing various friends go on and on about how great the good is. Red Eyed Mule did not disappoint. The straw that broke the camel’s back was my friend talking about a sloppy slaw burger. I’m a sucker for any sandwich with slaw on it, since I was 13 and had Alabama barbecue sandwich on my family’s way to PCB for a rare beach vacay. And in college my fave sandwich at Lexington landmark Two Key’s Tavern was a smoky Rachel, turkey, swiss, topped with you guessed it, slaw. Now, I come by my slaw addiction honestly, growing up in rural Kentucky foothills, slaw was something both my Granny’s and mother made by hand every day to go with their beans, cornbread, and whatever else my grandfathers wanted. But I digress…I walked into the Mule, sat at the bar and started perusing the menu, although I had a pretty good idea what I wanted. Then I saw Alton Brown, Food Network star and nearby neighbor, had declared the Sloppy Slaw burger the best thing he’d ever eaten. SOLD.It was fantastic. The slaw was homemade, not some gloppy mayo-y mess from a big white plastic Sysco tub. The burger itself was flavorful and cooked to perfection. And there was a housemade sauce that tied it all together and contributed to the sloppiness. Bottom line, food heaven, not sure I’ll be able to order anything else when I go back!.If you skip this spot, you miss out. Great service, wonderfully competent staff, quaint atmosphere. Feels very cozy, small town, and they make you feel welcome.
Lucky for us we were in the neighborhood. The burgers were great. Service was excellent. I want to go back and eat again.
Big Bucks for Bad Burgers. We walked in (about a foot since there was not enough room for even 10 people, let alone 20 and tables) and were hit with hot, greasy air. When i walked out I could wipe the grease off of my face. Burgers were actually kinda expensive… $5 for just a burger? And they were so cheap, they didn’t even have buns, just thin pieces of toast… And the burgers were about 5% meat, 90% grease and then 5% mayo and mustard. 11/10 would not recommend.
Great little duve. Burgers are fresh and seasoned to perfection
Sloppy slaw burger -‘ YUM. OMG-Yes, it’s good
I have enjoyed there food on several occasions. Always fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly. Always crowded… because of the great food. I wish they were open longer hours.
