If you’re truly Southern, this is you place. The ambiance, the food, the folks are all purely The South. So happy to find Doug’s. Reminds me of Grandma’s. Have some cold sweet tea, relax and enjoy;)))

Usually Good But Not Today. 02/18/12 Arrived at 1200. It took ten minutes before the waitress took our order (a lot longer than usual). Two other tables sat minutes after us. Both tables got their food before us. One of the other tables finished and left. Still no food. The waitress said she was checking….She returned later to ask what we had ordered. She said there was food sitting ready to go out but they did not know where it went. Come on….The table that had already eaten ordered the same thing that I did!We left at 1 pm without being served.WORSE SERVICE EVER. Table F in the back dining room.

Great Wait Staff. The wait staff girls are gorgeous. I was there one morning before they opened. They place was all dark and no cars in the parking lot. Suddinly the lights came on. I went in and they had half a dozen gorgeous wait staff girls all around. It was a Steven King moment. You look at the old pictures on the wall and I think the place is haunted. The food is great.

This place is fantastic. Whenever I go to unfamiliar little towns in the South, this is the kind of place I look for. And what I found here was not only a cool little Southern restaurant in terms of down home ambiance, I also found some of the best Southern cooking I’ve ever eaten. They had a Southern Living article on their wall praising their fried chicken, but I didn’t see this until after I had already placed my order (next time!). What I had instead was deliciously well seasoned beef tips over rice with an excellent gravy, *perfect* Grandma style fried okra, and equally perfect, soft and flavorful lima beans. They had just the right texture, like they were cooked properly and not overcooked. I am so thrilled to find this place because they are not only open 7 days a week, they are also open for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday (dinner until 9 M-Sat, close @ 3 on Sundays). I came back for Breakfast, which was ok, but not as great as the lunch and dinner options. My entire breakfast (bacon and eggs with peppers/onions, biscuit, gravy, grits and iced tea was only $6! A breakfast like that in Atlanta would have been $10-12 easily.

Sat Night Disappointment. Read great reviews and we happened to drive by Doug’s Place. Very Disappointed with our meals. Fried chicken tasted Old and cold. Husband’s country fried steak was inedible!! (That NEVER happens). Maybe off night???
