Go! Don’t even question it.This place is amazing! Not only is the staff, who are also the owners, down-to-earth, respectful, courteous, and all-around just easy to talk to, but the food is unparalleled. When you walk inside you may feel like you’re standing in a Bavarian beer tent, however, that should not dissuade you from bringing family or kids of all ages. I have two little ones that I would have no hesitation to bring here to experience not only the incredible atmosphere, but the diversity and deliciousness of the various German fare. The beers on tap are phenomenal ,and yes, German of course (i’m not talking Heineken or some other terrible beer but there is a range between light and dark Dunkels that will make you glad you chose this place). I recommend coming on an empty stomach as the quantity of food is substantial and delicious; you will truly have a hard time calling it quits but I recommend working on that willpower thing. Whether you are going to hang out with a few friends, or need a venue for family and extended family, this place will not disappoint. I am new to the Augusta area, and have traveled too many so-called German restaurants, but I would by far list this as my most pleasurable and honest German restaurant experiences I have had; short of my time in Germany and even in restaurants there I can’t recall quite the same down-home, professional, yet easy-going environment I experienced here.
If you like German food, you should like this restaurant. The prices were a little high for a menu that consisted of fried everything covered in gravy. I had never had sptzle before and I really enjoyed it. The bratwurst and potato salad was also pretty good.
Cordon Belu. Worse Cordon Bleu I have ever been presented. Two individually breaded and fried pieces of chicken, sandwiching ham and cheese. I lived in Germany over 18 years and was never served Cordon Bleu like this. I make it a couple times a year but never like this. Based upon the thickness of the chicken served I do not believe it was tenderized by pounding. Their German Potato Salad is soupy and lacking in anything but potatoes and vinegar. This was a second try for this restaurant yielding the same dismal results and will not be repeated.
