By far the best authentic Mexican food on the south side. Hard to pick a favorite dish; I’ve been going to Plaza Iztaccihuatl since before it was in the downtown Fairburn building (it was in Hudson Plaza in the back of the Mexican supermarket). The chipotele catfish is amazing, the enchiladas are amazing, the Cevieche is beyond amazing; in short, I have been a customer for over five years and have never found anything on the menu that is not good.
Maybe the best chips I’ve ever eaten. Red salsa is just right. Friendly service and the food was fresh and authentic.

Best in fairburn. The food here has always been great. My wife and I eat here about 2 times a month. I have tried many of their menu items, but always find myself back at the shredded beef enchiladas. I don’t even like what other places call enchiladas. These don’t have the brown sauce on them they are wrapped with lettuces and cheese on top. The salsa verde is awesome sometimes more spice then others. Also the guacamole, cheese dip and yummy home made chips round out this delicious meal. Hands down the best food in Fairburn/union city has to offer.
Genuine Mexican in Fairburn. Have been there four times now, and am committed to trying everything on this very authentic Mexican menu. Not a lot of frills on the menu nor atmosphere, keeping the food simple and authentic. Red salsa is average, salsa verde is fresh and spicy but not too much so. Enchiladas verde are, thus far, my favorite but the tamales, Carne Asada and Fajitas Camarones are winners as well. Try the taco lengua – with the freshest beef tongue – served in your choice of tortilla with onions and cilantro. Ask for guacamole salad – not featured on menu but very good. Chips and salsa complementary – queso dip also available. Wishing much success to these hard working restaurateurs. They deserve it!
Real Mexican Cuisine. Taqueria Iztaccihuatl is a little hard to locate, but is well worth the search.The place looks small on the outside, but is big on the inside. This is defiantely a mom and pop kinda restaruant. The food is perhaps the freshest I’ve ever tasted at a mexican restaruant. Everything is flavored filled (even the chips have a special spice on them) and nothing I’ve tried was greasy.My only problem is the lack of fountain drinks. If you order a Coke, it is gonna be in a bottle. This is just a minor issue though. And for those who like ambiance, your not going to get it here. Place is very unassuming.Food takes a moment to prepare, but that is because it is always made fresh. And thats not an advertising ploy, it is the truth!I would give this place a 9/10 and reccomend it to anyone who loves Mexican food.
This has got to be the BEST mexican food I have ever had. It use to be in the back of a supermarket, but it is now on 22 nw broad st. Fairburn ga 30213. U have to try this if your in the area.
