Being in the south, there is one thing that gets me shaking in anticipation. Fried Pork Chops. I know – I know. Having my pet pig Bacon should teach me not to have those cravings. We know this great little southern restaurant called John’s Fine Foods located at 4161 Jonesboro Road, Forest Park, Georgia 30297. There are no white table cloths here at this restaurant. There is no wait staff. There are no thrills. This restaurant doesn’t need any of them because the food speaks for itself. On this night me and the hub got similar plates:Boneless fried pork chops (yum!), mac and cheese, cabbage, dressing and gravy and cornbread. Can you say delicious? I could eat this meal every day of the week that ends in Y – YES that is how good the food is. Of course, my butt would hate me forever but my tummy would be forever grateful.
Went on a Sunday line was to the door. I got Baked chicken which was ok Mac n cheese was watery while my husband had pork chops that were fried to hard n cabbage that had way to much vinegar. I know I will not be visiting again.
Great Southern Food. We went to John’s on a tip from a local for great southern/soul food, albeit with a disclaimer on the safety of the location for an outsider. That being said, we had a great meal and got out of there cheap.Meals were cafeteria style. I had fried white fish with mac and cheese, cornbread, collard greens, and red velvet cake for dessert.
Great homemade southern food!!
