Ate late lunch here today -had the large crab cake sandwich w dirty rice. The sandwich was good, but not very flavorful though the bun was fresh. I’ve had much better elsewhere. The dirty rice had an ample amount of meat, but didn’t shine. It’s a very pleasant atmosphere, but the food was just OK -not special at all. I probably wont be back and do not recommend. There is better food to be had elsewhere.

The salad and crab cake were very tasty but the soup really missed the mark. Also, I have always loved their bread, particularly the pumpkin bread but this time it wasn’t quite like I remembered. I think it was a little over cooked.
I dream of the shrimp and grits here. They have the right amount of toppings on the grits and you never feel like they scrimped on the shrimp. Also try the she crab soup, their crab cakes are always a hit, and the bread pudding if you have room! No one is know has had a bad meal here, and everything that’s been ordered had been thoroughly enjoyed. Any trip to SII should include Barbara Jean’s.
The service not good, we had to send silverware back it was not clean, okra was cold I send it back for new, same one came back to me, meatloaf was great.
We ate on Thanksgiving for lunch. The restaurant was packed. Food was good and delivered timely. The service was also good. All good was delivered as ordered. Plenty of drink refills. Check was delivered timely.
Was recommended by a friend as the place to eat when in SS. We were seated immediately for lunch. The large crab cake sandwich was bountiful however slightly under cooked and lacking in flavor. My wife tried the shrimp burger, cooked much better however missing out in favor as we’ll. Clean restaurant and reasonably priced.
Every time we re on the island we have to eat at Barbara Jeans!! Their crab cakes, pumpkin bread, shrimp and grits are phenomenal!!
