Havent been to Echo (located at the King and Prince Hotel) for sometime now, but some neighbors suggested it for Christmas dinner. I am typically not a buffet person but it was Christmas and made sense. We were skeptical because of past buffet experiences, and rightfully so. We attended the last seating at 3:00, and everything was very tired. Best items were the desserts and salad bar. Everything else was very disappointing. Haddock, lamb, turkey were all over cooked and many side items were cold. Hot turkey gravy would have helped, but they didnt offer it. The prime rib was okay. In the past, menu items proved very good, but pass on their buffets. Paying a premium dollar for outstanding food on a holiday is fine, but this years offerings did not make the grade!
View was great, food was just ok and pricey. Watermelon was not ripe, Mac n cheese tasted like velveta, creamed corn was great, steaks are huge but not necessarily great cuts. Cheese wasn’t recognizable and waitress didn’t know the menu. Bar had a good selection and service was good overall. Love the hotel!
We tried this place out while staying at The King and Prince, a historic and one time nice resort. We went in to order a small lunch at the bar at Echo, and the bar tender was so rude to us that we decided to walk out. I’ve never been so frustrated while on vacation in my life. This individual has no business serving customers, and we will never return again.
Fishing4. Echo oceanfront has a beautiful view, probably one of the best in Glynn County. However the food is the same as it has always been – lousy and overpriced! To start I ordered the special soup of the day, which was shrimp gumbo – no shrimp, one small piece of sausage and the rest a onion and celery broth- the gumbo was not a gumbo – it was only a broth. My entree was a fried grouper taco – two pieces of fried grouper on a soft tortilla shell with a few pieces of what tasted like cucumber and onion- no salsa as advertised – a large glob of cole slaw sitting on and even larger glob of tatar sauce. One bite was enough – am life long resident of the island and that will be my last trip until thing change again.
