Best seafood on Saint Simons Island. My wife and I love Frederica House. It is our favorite seafood restaurant on SSI. The fried shrimp are fantastic. The cocktails are very good and potent. They have started opening for lunch and they also take reservations. They can get very busy so reservations are strongly advised for dinner. The service can sometimes be a bit slow when they are very busy but the quality of the food more than makes up for it.
I don’t recommend this place. Poor service and fair quality food that is over priced!
Ate here several years ago, but today’s dinner was not as memorable. Dressing too sour and waitress never came back to ask how everything was. Food taste average, but trout was over cooked. Black eyed peas very tasty and great hush puppy’s. Others in our party thought grilled chicken was tender, but steak typical of a seafood place.
Very disappointed in my first visit. Service was good and attentive but food was bad. Frozen tasting fish, over-salted green beans, cold onion ring app. Could not finish our food. No atmosphere, either. Will not return.
Great Crabcakes. We went the FH twice on our most recent trip to St Simon’s, once for lunch, once for dinner. I enjoyed the crabcakes ao much I ordered them both times. They also have the best hush puppies. Some of the side dishes are just standard fare, but the very friendly staff (you can tell they are locally owned) and great service more than made up for and lack of pizazz there.BTW, the decor is very interesting, in a good way. The story on how they obtained the lumber is fascinating, so be sure to read the back of the menus.
Our favorite. Wife and I went there Monday evening 28may, Memorial day, it was our 30th wedding anniversary. There were several senior adults there celebrating the holiday. They appeared to be regulars and local residents. Believe that really says a lot about the food and service when the manager knows the regular customers and they choose this restaurant as one of the their local favorites. We had eaten there before and love the ambience, food and service. We stayed on the island all week and I should say Frederica House sets the standard that other restaurants should strive to meet. Nothing else came close all week. Thanks Frederica House.
Very generic and bland. Seafood night at Shoneys is better.
