Went on the spur of the moment on a busy holiday weekend with no reservation (Friday night, no reservations?!? Yikes) and understandably were told there were no tables…, went with bar seating, which wasnt too bad, except that the seats were elevated stools-my fault, no real complaint except that I was a bit uncomfortable. The menu was excellent in variety and preparation styles, and we (party of four) tried several different appetizers, including the oysters. While they were indeed VERY tasty, super fresh (and beautifully presented) I wanted larger, local variety….only one type served….and at 16 per halfDozen, I was discouraged from having too many! She-crab soup was another stand out, couldnt have done it better myself (and I DO make a good one!) then the entree showed with just as much beauty and flavor as the rest of our experience…..this is all good news..,, so why a mere 3.5 stars? My biggest complaint is that we were early in the rush, and stayed long enough to see it surge and taper off…. with many open tables throughout. Ive worked in high end dining (in college, a century ago..) and while I know all about not over stretching staff so that other tables suffer too, this was not the case. We are low pressure, and wouldve been accommodating if our server allowed a lower priority for us as Walk Ins…. instead, our half prepared bartender/server REALLY made us low priority, and we waited on drinks-some that never came- and while her intentions were good her command of the menu and preparations was abysmal. Thankfully our female counterparts got a couple of tequilas in them before the waits started to add up and they were entertainment enough. I had grouper pan seared and it was excellent if not a bit dry..,, nothing to cry about but if Id been informed better I might have chosen the bronzed as my friend had his fish that way and it appeared a bit juicier. I only mention these subtleties because each of our fish dishes were almost 30 dollars….in fact, all told, for four of us, the total with tip was 270.00…. more booze than usual, more apps than usual, and more dessert than usual…. but still…. better plan better next time! Sorry no pictures…. it really was perfectly presented… but it was quite dark and we were squished to the side of the entryway…..I just wanted to eat and move on…
