Two glasses of house wine $40.00. Lousy service. Beautiful Island considering the $6.00 toll upon entering. Great beaches. The Jekyll Island Park staff could not do enough for you. This hotel is a joke.
I went to the High Tea on the recommendation of a friend and have to say that I was disappointed. It’s pretty pricey to start with, $14.95 for tea. The pastries were wonderful, and constantly replenished, however the sandwiches were woefully lacking. I’ve had High Tea other places and always had a variety of 6 or so tea sandwiches. The three sandwiches they offered were more in the nature of canape’s. One was a smoked salmon with caviar on a rye bread, cut in the shape of a star and about as big as a half dollar. The other sandwiches?, one of which was a very thinly sliced poached pear and the other I think was an extremely thinly sliced piece of ham with a teeny dab of cranberry sauce. It was all very well presented, but … They did have a very good selection of teas, some loose and some in teabags, and I did appreciate that. If you have money to spare, and want to dine in a truly lovely old hotel, by all means do the tea, but I’d recommend having lunch that day before you go to tea.
