Get there early or be prepared to stand in line. With that being said all there food is good and worth the wait. My group tried a little of everything. The burnt ends sandwich was my favorite but I also really liked the ribs and the turkey. The brisket chilli was also really tasty. Who doesn’t like a restaurant that has koolaide on the menu.
There’s something special about walking into a dive restaurant with half wet swim trunks and flip flops. This place has been feutured on triple D ( that’s diners, drive ins, and dives). No doubt it knows something about flavor town. I got the smoked chicken salad and fried green beans. It was real nice. They have five sauces. I got the sweet Georgia one. I almost got the smokin hot one but didn’t want to get out of hand in front of my friends. This place is in an old gas station. The place is cool. Most of the employees are good ole long haired folks always smiling. They play good music as well. The place isn’t cheap for BBQ but worth the experience. Thanks have good day
Legendary BBQ joint in St. Simons Island Georgia. My wife and I always plan to stop in whenever we’re in the area. The pork barbecue and burnt ends sandwich and pretty much everything else are all consistently top notch. The okra was perfectly done, fries are awesome, greens are just like a good southerner likes them and the fried Oreos are to die for. Plus, the sweet tea is just like I grew up on. Go there!
Food was disappointing. I’ve been wanting to eat here for a long while and was so excited to try this place. Drove from Jacksonville to eat here. Line was out the door, but I was expecting a wait. The line moved quickly and ordered our food. We picked a table outside since it was so beautiful outside. Food arrived and I needed more tea so I asked the guy for a refill…he said you’ll have to go inside for a refill (strike one). Then I get eating with plastic utensils (strike two) and napkins equivalent to toilet tissue (strike three). On to the food…I’ve had waaaay better BBQ than this place and close to home. I feel brisket was good, ribs were seasoned well, but not much meat and tough and sides were cold and small portions. So I won’t be visiting again
My cousin treated me to the rib plate. Delicious…..the sides were very good also. Inside & outdoor seating. Large bustling crowd of locals. Great location on St. Simons Island, limited reserved parking. Great atmosphere, background music, very clean, cordial staff. They’ve entered state competitions with their BBQ. The price was good, the dining experience was great! Will revisit.
Had to try the famous BBQ. So glad we did. I had the pulled pork sandwich so tender and great smoked flavor. My husband had ribs. Best ever and he’s had ribs all over the country. He gave me a couple and the meat fell off the bone while I was eating it! Cole slaw didn’t have much flavor and the fries were slightly over fried but so glad we tried it. It lf you love BBQ Like we do, it’s a must.
Hands down best BBQ on the island (or Brunswick for that matter). Generous portions, 4 delicious sauces, homemade sides, and cold beer. Sit outside and enjoy the view! Wonderful meal.
