Opened only a month, a welcome return to this Brunswick based establishment is well deserved. A smaller restaurant, Zachry’s Riverhouse is located at the site of the old CJ’s restaurant at the Jekyll Island Marina, the owners have revamped the bar and decorated with recovered wood and other interesting materials. There are beautiful sunset views on the open deck, but for an insect free environment, a screened in porch with plenty of seating is available. Service is as to be expected for a new opening. Limited by their kitchen size, their menu is smaller than their Brunswick site. Local fried shrimp and oysters are very good, as are their salads and starter dishes. Desserts are somewhat unimaginative and I found it odd that a southern staple, pecan pie, was served warmed up rather than at room temperature.
