Does not compare with Lee Street. Brought my 87 year old dad (we used to eat at Lee Street) Unfortunately nothing was the same. The fried cauliflower was passable, the onion rings were just that, onion rings – nothing like the old ones and the steak tasted like freezer. Didn’t see any of the old guys from Lee Street. I guess you can’t go back!
Hamburger Steak $14.95. Give me a break. Quality used to be great but has gotten poorer and poorer.
Wait staff did not meet us at the door. Spoke to a waitress and was not followed up with. Left without eating.
Mixed review. We found the atmosphere and service very pleasant. The view of Lake Dow was lovely. The chopped steak was dry. Salad was fresh. There were three starches and only one green vegetable on the menu. Appetizers tend to be heavy fried foods. This restaurant needs to lighten up the cuisine to attract new patrons. Guys might like the meat and potatoes but ladies really want lighter fare.
Tim. Pilgreens is like an old family member. From the 1960s my father, now deceased, and I found the resturant to be the best in Atlanta. Two fires has caused Pilgreens to move south and it is now nearly 75 miles from my home. While the food is not exactly the same it is close enough to the real taste of the past that it beats out the rest of what is offered else where, Make the trip !
Great ambiance, but…. For a place that makes it’s reputation on steaks, we were very disappointed in our servings. My steak was bland to the point of not being edible. One of the party had the salmon also without flavor and too, too dry. General comment of he 12 of us, was dissapoinment. Business seemed very good, but be forewarned Pilgreens, we won’t return and others, if discriminating diners will seek alternatives also.
I have been going for years, and many more to come I’m sure. The service is great, the food is outstanding and the suroundings are very peaceful. I would recommend this establishment to anyone! For a little romance they also have closed curtain love nest tables for the special occasions for you and your dearest! Keep it up Pilgreens!
