Great lunch. My sister took us here for lunch while we were down visiting. All three of us loved our lunches. The service was attentive and the meals came quickly. Other than a sticky front door(kind of strange) I really liked the place.

Horrible!!!! The salsa was definitely from a jar and the chips were over fried. I ordered a chalupa, rice and beans. My mom ordered a bean taco. On my food, the guacamole was not very fresh and the beans and rice tasted funny. My mom’s taco had cheap cheese. I’ve had tacos at Taco Bell that were much better than this. The waitress also never have us more water and their bathrooms are small and smelly. Want GOOD Mexican food? Go to Monterrey’s a few minutes down the road. I hate being rude about restaurants, but this is an outrage.

Had the Tacos El Patrillo, which was three steak and chorizo tacos on doubled corn tortillas with onions, cilantro and salsa roja on the side. Food and service were excellent. Salsa was a little weak. Order some pico de gallo to mix with it and it will be great. They have many unique dishes that aren’t served at most places. Can’t wait to go back and try their margarita and guacamole.

Our weekly fix. The El Potrillo at 8465 Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta is booming. It’s no wonder with their strong margaritas and their dependably superb menu items.El Potrillo deserves superior accolades taking food, value, service and management into account. We dine here either Friday or Saturday each week without fail. My wife must engage in her weekly ritual of queso dip, frozen margaritas, shrimp fajitas or an El Potrillo specialty, their Camerones Potrillo. The margaritas are more potent and refreshing than any you will find elsewhere. Plus, you won’t be paying frou-frou prices for a maliciously watered down concoction.Other items that exceed expectations are their Macho Burrito and the vegetarian combination platter C. This includes a burrito, quesadilla and a chalupa. Here’s a hint: tell them to hold the frijoles refritos and replace them with black beans. It adds a flavorfully unique variation to a conventional favorite. In many ways El Potrillo is a traditional Mexican restaurant in terms of food choices and atmosphere. This can be a benefit as there are no hoity-toity fabrications about this place. But that’s not to imply that El Potrillo is typical. It’s just consistent, no-nonsense and gratifying. Though not an upscale dining establishment, some menu items are clearly superior to other comparative Mexican restaurants, even to some above its class. In fact, an expert in the field has told me that the shrimp at El Potrillo are some of the best and freshest tasting you’ll ever eat for the price. You can also expect to pay more at most other places and be disappointed so why take the risk?A small suggestion: I would like to see the menu expand just a bit to include potato filled items and some healthier alternatives. The service is friendly and while there are times the communication gap can be tricky to span depending on the server you receive, the diligent and customer oriented owner is always ready to lend a helpful hand, offer a friendly word and modify any menu item to your liking.Friday nights are especially popular with El Potrillo’s patrons so be sure arrive early to get a good spot. If by chance all the tables are taken, the bar is also a great place to eat, chat and watch the myriad of colorful and flavorful elixirs be created.

I have been here a few times in the past. Their food is unbelievably good and is served in perfect portions. The atmosphere is excellent. The wait staff as well as the management is always quick, curteous, polite, and friendly. They always serve delicious and outstanding food. I am definitely going back again.
