HIdden Treasure of Authentic Japanese Cuisine Here in Acworth. I live not even half a mile away from this restaurant and when I moved there a year ago, I saw it and was curious but passed it up until today. I had lunch there with a friend and we decided to both get different things from the menu and sample from each other’s plates. The atmosphere is modern Japanese-style, and there’s many different seating options: at the sushi bar, a table with high stools, a regular table, and booths. We went with the regular low table and right away the sushi ordering protocol was explained to us, and a small photo album of all the different types of sushi, sashimi, and handrolls was given to us. You can order by the piece or by the 8 piece roll. There is much more than just your average sushi and sashimi types, and we went with the Kennesaw roll and the yellowtail tuna roll. I wanted to go for the eel roll but my lunch partner isn’t fond of eel. The best part is that the sushi isn’t expensive at all. All of the rolls were under $10. There’s all different types of beers and wines available, but we both went for a light hot tea. It was perfectly lightly flavored so it wasn’t going to compete with what we were going to eat, and didn’t need any sweetener of any sort. After looking through the menu thoroughly, I decided on a chicken karaage bento box, which comes with an eight piece sushi roll, while my lunch partner decided on kalamari salad. I would like to note that it’s definitely beneficial to have someone knowledgeable about Japanese cuisine with you, because the less informed can and /will/ have questions about what’s on the menu. I was the more informed of the two so I answered all the questions that my dining partner had. After we ordered, a small, chilled cucumber salad plate was brought out to each of us along with my miso soup and two sets of disposable chopsticks. The salad was a wonderful little taste of what was to come, and the miso soup was absolutely delicious. After a few minutes, the kalamari salad came in a large white bowl, and it was definitely more kalamari than salad. There was spiciness, but nothing that the hot tea we were drinking couldn’t tame, and the dressing was excellent. There was some sweetness and crunch of apple hidden underneath the layer of fried kalamari and lettuce that really added to the overall dish. The fried kalamari itself was perfectly fried and not rubbery like some other places, and the breading was light as to not overpower the rest of the dish. After a few minutes, my bento box platter came, and I wasn’t sure were to start. Everything was in its own segment of the platter to simulate a real bento box experience. The chicken karaage was the clear star, but the shrimp tempura sushi, the gyoza, and the fried vegetable patty all competed to be eaten first. Let me first tell you that the gyoza is /excellent/. It was perfectly cooked, and the meat inside was juicy and savory. The veggie patty was sweet potato, cucumber, and peppers, and it was in a light breading, which was easy to pick up with my chopsticks. There was also a crab meat stick that was tempura fried that was enjoyed as well. But the chicken karaage was simply beautiful. There was a lightly sweetened mayonnaise-based dipping sauce along with it and the amount in the little cup it was in was perfect for the amount of chicken there was. The shrimp tempura sushi was simply gorgeous as well. While I had started on my bento box, our plate of the two sushi rolls had come. I honestly appreciated that there was some fried shreds of sweet potato amongst the usual pickled ginger and wasabi paste, because it took away some of the spice of the yellowtail sushi. I consider myself a connoiseur of sushi, and this truly is some of the best I’ve had in Georgia as a whole. Once we completed everything we had ordered thus far, the server asked if we were ready for the check or wanted something else, so we decided to get dessert. I went with the red bean ice cream, and my dining partner went for the mango mousse cake. An interesting note about the dessert options is that tempura ice cream, green tea mochi ice cream, and red bean mochi ice cream was available. The red bean ice cream is much different from the azuki paste you find in dumplings, with a sweeter taste. There were red beans mixed in for a delightful burst of azuki flavor, and there was whipped cream on the bottom of the bowl. The mango mousse cake was wonderfully creamy, with the right amount of sweetness in combination of the mango. I’m not sure if it was made in-house, but it was delicious. But the best part of this feast of Japanese cuisine? The price. Everything was on an itemized, easily understood receipt, and was under $50. And now an hour later, instead of feeling sluggish after so much food, I feel energized. If you’re after authentic Japanese food right here in Acworth, Mango’s is most /definitely/ worth a look.

On Point. I have dined at Mangos since it opened. I have noticed all of the changes and growing the restaurant has achieved. Overall, the sushi is the best! Hands down! I am just thankful that it is so close so I can visit as frequently as I wish! The staff is on point as well. This place is highly recommended! Thank you Mangos for all of the delicious food and excellent service!

My husband and I go to Mangos almost once a week. They have great food and drinks. We have gotten everything from sushi, hibachi, appetizers, dessert, and drinks. Always good. The sushi chef is great. Always nice and helpful. The only downside is service can be quite slow at times but always worth it. Definitely the best sushi around Kennesaw/Acworth!

This Resturant has horrible service. I have come here on multiple occasions just hoping the had an off day. No. Today was the worst! Slow service. Wrong orders. And just overall poor customer service.

Terrible Service. I live right down the street from Mango’s and have eaten there multiple times. The food is amazing it’s the only reason I come back. The service is terrible. Every time we go there’s an issue when it taking two hours to get in and out. Be prepared to wait for everything. I’ve had issue with our waiter disappearing and not coming back for half an hour, they’ve sat down at tables with friends and while we waited for our check, drinks refills are a never. It’s a win lose situation. Great food some of the worse service I’ve ever had just be prepared.

Have passed this place a hundred times and never thought of going in. Groupon offered a coupon and made it worth while. The sushi was amazing and the place was clean and friendly staff. There wasn’t one roll that wasn’t amazing! My family has just found a new sushi location sorry Rusans we won’t be back!
