This place has a storied history dating back as far as I can remember….. first it was this tiny shack of a place that thrived on its no frills, one of a kind ambience…. the line literally went out the door into the parking lot. Then it burned….to the ground….. and we locals feared it was gone forever. After a time, the abomination they reside in now appeared and lo and behold the Oyster King was reborn! The food has remained the same though….. as has the nonchalant service and hygiene. It was cool when the place looked like it was a hundred years old, now it’s just annoying. However, if you want a mountain of fried seafood made with extra large shrimp, oysters, and other battered and deep fried delicacies, look no further. Truly, the gut-busting shrimp and oyster platter has no peer! So why the 4 stars? The location is now horrible instead of quirky and the staff acting aloof and squabbling in Korean is off putting. Still, I go once a month, whether I need to or not! The best fried platter in the metro area, hands down.

Won’t return!!. First time there. Food was good. Service was good until the older oriental lady brought us our check. I had a party of five. There was a party of two that joined us but we made it very clear when we ordered that we had separate checks. We were BOTH charged 18% gratuity because there were more than six of us. When I asked the waitress about it, I got a defensive answer and a menu handed to me where it states their policy on parties of six or more. It was clear to me that there was no arguing with the lady. She took a stance and for that stance there will be no return of this customer. A gentleman at the bar (Manager???) took notice, but never came over to offer some assistance in the matter.Let me just say, I work in the food business and I appreciate good service and will tip well. I even told the lady I intended to tip her for her service, but when she got defensive when I simply questioned the bill, it was a big turn off for me.
