Awesome Company Function. Big Sam catered a company function with over 100 people in attendance for me recently. He did a whole pig…(our request) …the presentation was awesome and the food unbelievable. In addition to the pig…there was chicken, sausage, potato salad, and vegetable medley. The potato salad was called baked potato salad and was awesome…everyone raved about it. There was plenty of food for all and everyone enjoyed it. I would highly recommend Big Sam’s!!!
I also was at cook out with whole big,and there was more than plenty of food(exp. Meat) for every one! My family thought food was GREAT! I guess it all a matter of was opinion.
Great Cater. I had never been to Big Sam’s restaurant but my company had Big Sam’s cater at a company function. It was incredible! I had never seen a whole pig on display and it was really interesting to see it, taste it and learn from Big Sam had he prepared it. The kids loved it and I am always up to seeing and learning about new things. All the meat was so tender….I also tried all the sides and chicken. All were very good! I then went to Big Sam’s restaurant and not only was it the best BBQ pork I have ever had but the place is so much fun too. Sam and his staff are special people. My wife had the catfish and my son had a huge hamburger. We all had baked potato salad and left full and happy. We will be back!
I was at an event recently where Big Sam catered. The presentation was average to minimal except for the whole pig displayed in the center of the table was something you don’t see everyday. Some liked the whole pig presentation and some turned off by it but it was what the host requested. The pork and the Sauce was good. The pig appeared burnt on the outside but was moist and tasty on the outside. The chicken was so dry it was almost not edible. The vegetables looked and tasted like they were soaked in oil then rolled in ashes, warmed but 1/2 cooked. The potato salad was rather unique but not in a pleasant way. There was way too much potato salad and vegetables for the 100 or so people and not enough meat for everyone to have a healthy portion or their preferred choices. So he can smoke a pig and the sauce is good but the rest was worse than a disappointment.
From the moment I walked in, I felt like Big Sam was a long lost and crazy uncle, only being accepted by the family because he can make some fantastic BBQ. I had the pulled pork platter. It was tender and juicy with a great flavor. The Sammy Q Stew was a little sweet for my taste, but flavorful nonetheless. And the potato salad, oh, the potato salad. If you read this and you go, just get double potato salad as your sides, you can thank me later. The wife got the ribs and she said they were some of the best she’s had. Tender and separated from the none easily. She too had the potato salad, but went with the cole slaw as her second. She said it was good too. We also had Big Sam throw a piece of catfish onto a plate. For a BBQ place, they’ve got some amazing catfish! It’s fresh out of the water and just a few hours old, never frozen! Wanted to try the ‘Nana Pudding, but they were out (must be good).All in all, a great BBQ joint ran by a guy who is just enjoying life and wants to make his customers smile. When you go, get Andi as your waitress, she’s the best!**Side note: They do not accept credit cards, but do have an ATM inside**
Delicious food, laid back atmosphere, wonderful Owner.. My husband and I went here on a Saturday for dinner after picking peaches. We weren’t from the area but had found this BBQ place online. Upon walking in, the owner/cook was sitting in a chair and the best waitress ever, Andrea, was at the bar. We were seated and chatted with Sam and Andrea. Both are INCREDIBLE people. It was so laid back. I ordered the ribs which were fall off the bone incredible. The potato salad was hands down the best potato salad I’ve ever had. I wish I had gotten two helpings. I also tried the catfish which was awesome. I thought it was strange to have catfish at a bbq place, but it was absolutely delicious. Sam is one of the nicest people I have ever met and he’s running his business right. I can’t wait to go back to this place.
