We were looking for good southern cooking. We found it. Just like Mamaw cooked. Cube steak and macaroni and cheese was awesome! I haven’t had cooking like that since I was little! Loved it!

If you claim to know southern food, know what it means when someone says they put their foot in it, then ya best come get a bait of food here! Yeah, I said a bait! If you don’t know what that means, well then now we know. Smothered cube steak, turkey neck bones, squash, greens, purple hull peas, corn bread, cabbage ect… Don’t miss this one.

Oh I forgot to say how nice everyone was, the cook came out to ask how our fried chicken was, we told him it was great and asked him if he was responsible the nice classic soul music we heard coming from the kitchen, he said yes! We happen on this place today by way of 411, we called information to get the number for Grammy’s in Sandy Springs, Ga. Which is now closed, the last time we were there was in 1996! We were craving for some good fried chicken. The 411 operator said she had a listing for a Granny’s in Austell, which is where we live. We never knew such an awesome place, was right there in smelling distance!!08 Aug, 2012I was pleasantly surprised by the tast of the food. We orded fried chicken and had to wait for it to be cooked, because it wasn’t one of the item already prepared for the daily menu. While we waited for our fried chicken, we were offered 2 bottles of cold water and a sample of each item prepared on the Wednesday menu, turkey wings, beef tips, spare ribs and yes fully cooked neck bones! When we finally got our fried chicken, we ordered Mac n cheese, broccoli rice casserole, collard greens and green beens. I just want to say that our fried chicken was worth the wait! Everything was good!! We will go back again and again…..!!

Fresh, homemade food. This place is a real savior in terms of restaurants in the Six Flags area. There are almost no non-fast-food places around here. It is small and located adjacent to a gas station which is probably why people are so wary of it. But let me tell you, if you skip this place based on looks then you will be missing out on some fine soul food. I eat here about four days a week for lunch and they always have a fresh and hot supply of mac n’ cheese (better than your grandmother’s I promise), rice, gravy, squash, limas, greens (all kinds), etc. But the real gem of this place is the baked chicken. I know it sounds boring, but this baked chicken is anything but boring!!!! It’s got to be one of the best in Atlanta!!!! Everything is clean and served fresh right in front of you and the owners are very friendly. Don’t believe any bad reviews, because this place is literally the best kept secret in all of the Six Flags area. I promise.

Three undercooked Neckbone bones….wow. I was so hungry! I get there and asked for neckbones over rice and gravy, mac and cheese and squash! I was shocked when I got home and the meat was undercooked. How hard is it to cook neckbones. They are quick and easy. I was just being lazy…but I will cook my own from now on and won’t be back. Oh and by the way, the woman who totalled me up and took my money didn’t wear gloves, even though she put my muffin on my plate, then handled my debit card…wth.
