Overcooked fried oysters and shrimp as well as twice baked potatoes.. Last Friday evening, my wife and I returned to Sapelo Station after an absence of some two years. The crab stew was delicious and deserves raves for richness, content and spices. My wife ordered the fried oyster platter and I had the combo fried shrimp and scallops with and accompanying twice baked potatoes. Much to our amazement and disappointment, the seafood was battered and over cooked such that when we peeled the crusty, crunchy batter from the items—all that remained was an oyster hard, tasteless and minute. The shrimp and scallops were so over cooked that all remained were yellowish hard pieces of what began as local proud seafood. We are hopeful that possibly the chef left the items in the grease too long or the owners have discovered the chef needs instructions in cooking delicate, local seafood. Unfortunately, we will not be returning until others tell us that the cook has been retrained or replace. The wait staff and owners are most hospitable and the atmosphere pleasant. Hopefully this review will bring to light our dissatisfaction.
