Michelle 250. Very very disappointed in Frankies Italian Restaurant on Canton Road. We have gone there for YEARS. Always loved the food and atmosphere. Went there today, the food was nothing more than fast food Italian. The salad, which as always excellent! was low on the usual past ingredients (cheese, beets, garbono beans, portion, etc)., the entree we have gotten for years was less than satisfying! Skimping on the old family recipe. Looking to save money by skimping on the usual ingredients? Cutting back on portions/quality? Loose customers! Bottom line. We wont be back. Sad …… to lose customers of many years.
A good Fine. Frankie’s is a good restaurant. Has GREAT potential if the owners would cultivate the staff! The food is consistently good but not great. Pizza here is consistently good either in or take out. Place your orders precise and in detail to your desire. Overall…3 of 5…based on staff. Customer over 5 years.
Stay Away. Went there on Saturday night after getting the bogo coupon and the waitress did not take the coupon off, so asked the owner about it and all she kept repeating was about the 18% gratuity that was added to the coupon that was not reflected on the bill on the first place. Service was not the best, but hey, it’s just a dinner. Took home most of my meal and it was watery and ended up throwing it away after my stomach became upset. Don’t waste your time here, folks….. not the same pleasant food or service that it was several years ago. I would go to Scalini’s or Pastabella!
Very Disappointed. I hadn’t been to Frankie’s in a long time and my husband had never been. We got a coupon in the mail so we decided to go. I don’t know what happened to this place. We left early because i was expecting a wait on Sunday night like it always was years ago but it was quiet except for one large party. That should have been the first sign that the place was not as good as it used to be. Server was nice but a little timid, but if I had a boss like that I would be too. We ordered our food, it was ok, not great, you can tell they cut alot of corners since the old days. At the end of the meal they wouldn’t expect the buy one get one free dinner coupon saying my husbands pizza didn’t count as an entree and that the coupon excluded pizza (which it did not say). How ever the real problem wasn’t the coupon it was the way the owner handled situation. No smile, no apology, no customer service whatever, we really are reasonable people and this could have been smoothed over if she were nice at all. She was actually kind of rude. We let her know we wouldn’t be back and she clearly could care less. Then she yelled at the poor server. Save your money for a place that wants your business and treats their staff right.
Great garlic rolls! Pasta fagoli & minestrone both are very good. Veal Francese & pasta both excellent.
Food was fantastic at a terrific price! Would definitely reccomend!
A Decent Meal At A Fair Price. I don’t think Frankie’s is the best Italian restauarant in the area — but it’s perfectly fine and we periodically go.What turned me off about the restaurant was something I construed as petty. I don’t like red sauce on my pasta, so I asked the waiter to substitute butter sauce instead. I was surprised to find a 75 cent surcharge on my bill. When I complained, he took it off — but the restaurant’s policy is ridiculous, and now I simply order my pasta plain and use the sauce from my entree or the garlic butter, from the rolls.Frankie’s reminds me of the old fashioned southern Italian restaurants of my youth. My husband enjoys their chicken francese and I like their chicken romano. The rolls are garlic-y and hot — very good!. Salads, served family style, are the usual iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, garbanzo beans — not bad.The service is good and efficient. Never a long wait, and the waiters and waitresses aim to please.
