Disappointed in gluten-free. I went to Carolyn’s earlier this week and ordered 4 cupcakes – red velvet, birthday cake, turtle, and gluten-free chocolate. The conventional cupcakes were for my family members and I think they enjoyed them well enough. The gluten free was for me and it was the worst cupcake I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a fair share of gluten-free). It tasted as though it had been made several days earlier. It was rock hard and dry. It took a bit of effort to break off one piece, which almost completely went to crumbles in my hand. I tasted it just to confirm that it tasted as bad as it felt. It actually tasted worse. The icing tasted as if it’d come straight from a can in the grocery store. Honestly, the whole thing seemed like a 10-year-old’s first baking effort. I immediately threw it in the trash. I won’t be going back.
I like the decor, but their cupcakes are dry and they don’t have many offerings. They really need to study their competition.
Not bad…. These cupcakes are pretty good, though I’ve had better elsewhere. The prices are kind of high, too, which is a real drag. If they were cheaper I would probably come back a lot more, but since they aren’t I’ll only visit this place on rare occasions. Still worth a try though.
Good, but not that good.. I love cupcakes. I love big, moist, tasty cupcakes with good flavor combination. The coffee toffee cupcake was certainly moist, and had a good coffee icing. While I typically prefer quality over quantity, I still couldn’t get over this small 4-bite cupcake (including frosting) that was $2.50 plus tax. Sorry, at that price for 4 small bites, this thing better knock me off my feet. It didn’t.
