True Peru for YouThere arent enough Peruvian restaurants around. This one is really good.Las Brasas recently morphed from a small take-out place to a real restaurant. The place could have done a little more to create a nice atmosphere, but its fine. Our server was helpful and friendly.Stand-outs were the lomo saltado and the roasted chicken. The vegetable mixto anticuchos, the potato huancaina, and the grilled asparagus were all good, but didnt match up to the main items.I would like to return and try more of the menu.

Lacking. Las Brasas is a tiny caf with no seating inside and limited outside. Your order will be to-go. The limited parking is on street or giant- pot-hole dodging in the almost non-existent back of the store. The counter service was almost curt, to the point and nothing more. The menu is also small as conformed to their space. When I asked for a dinner or family special, the cashier told me they had neither. I think this is a huge err on their part. It is pretty easy to put together a whole bird with a couple sides to make it easy to order in a hurry especially if you are standing is a claustrophobic space with the inside character of a plain offset box. This is a definite call in and plan before you go kind of place. Unfortunately, my first visit was Yelped on the road and I did not know more than the ratings and menu on a smart phone screen. I only opted for the chicken because the menu as I said was limited. I would like to have seen some black beans and rice, maybe plantains and yuca (these possible items are available at the farmers market down the street a bit). However the chicken was tasty and fresh at 8 pm on a Friday night. It was quartered and put into a styro box from a steam table. When I saw this, I thought do I cancel or go with it I reluctantly took my pre-paid 10.99 + tax bird home with me and was pretty happy. Although the seasoning spices were OK and nothing really standing out in the juicy chicken, the green sauce side (creamy cilantro & jalapeo) was authentic. Maybe I was expecting to find what I was used to in the DC Metro area for pollo a la brasa like at Sardis in Gaithersburg, MD. But for the price and on a quick run through town on the way home, all in all I probably could have done just as good with a grocery store bird. In other words, the product was good, but the hassle to park, less than friendly clerk and the lack of menu items left me unimpressed.
