Excellent authentic Chinese food with daily specials, many of them fresh seafood. Family owned since 1979. Additional Chinese menu upon request. Good cocktails and specialty Chinese teas. Only negative is lack of handicap restrooms. Grear for groups and families.
Our favorite local Chinese place. This has been our favorite local Chinese dining for fifteen years. The menu is extensive and diverse. We especially enjoy: hot and sour soup, chicken with garlic and black bean sauce, pan fried noodles with beef, mixed vegetables with tofu, and the spicy braised eggplant. Prices are very reasonable. They have beer and wine. Service is good.
Dirty, sad Chinese place. Less than mediocre. Overcooked, flavorless food. Waitress seemed like she was serving a prison sentence. Supposedly, it’s heyday was 3 decades ago.
If you want generic Chinese food…. I’ve lived in Decatur for about eight years and have eaten Pyng Ho take-out on numerous occasions. It’s alright food… Nothing to write home about, and kind of expensive, but like most Chinese restaurants, you get a ton of food, and they’ll deliver.
Cooking classes?. The bland, greasy, and decidedly un-Chinese flavors I experienced at this overpriced trend-trap might make Pyng Ho one of the greatest let-downs in recent dining. The fact that this restaurant offers cooking classes is absurd. We spent nearly 100 dollars for dinner with 3 people. Absolutely tasteless. A disgrace.
Bland. I stopped in for lunch with a couple co-workers and we ordered off the lunch menu. I had the Spicy Hunan Beef while my coworkers had the sesame chicken and the Tsao’s spicy chicken. While I was not expecting anything earth shattering, I was really disappointed by how bland and spiceless my spicy Hunan beef was. The Tsao got the same mild appraisal. While the Hot and Sour soup was actually a little better than average (lots of tofu floating around), the spring roll and fried wonton served with the lunch special tasted pretty much like cardboard. As I said, I’m okay with very average Americanized Chinese takeout, but this fell well short of that standard.
