It was good overall. The restaurant was beautiful, the staff super friendly and the it all came at a good price. The menu looked incredible. I ended up getting the brunch buffet. Some items were not good like the eggs, others were fine and a few stood out very well. The french toast and curried chicken salad were among the best. Overall it was good but nothing spectacular. I would return.
Just enjoyed a wonderful first visit to wahoo. The service was incredible and the bread pudding is to die for! Recommend starting your meal with the calamari appetizer. Hats off to the kitchen it was the best ever.
Best Fried Chicken. I have been going through withdrawls since Watershed left Decatur. I miss my Tuesday night fried chicken. So I decided to try Wahoo!. I have had several entrees on their menu and loved them. I ordered the fried chicken the other night. Oh my goodness! It is so moist and tender, and cooked perfectly crispy. It is my new favorite chicken place!
Neighborhood Favorite. My husband and I have been going to Wahoo for years now as it is our favorite neighborhood restaurant (we live in Kirkwood). It has always been a fantastic spot for seafood (their ahi tuna is the best around) but in the last couple of years they’ve expanded their specials and menus to include all types of food. We have tried the gamut from chicken mole, fried mozzarella with prosciutto, Asian chopped salad and pork taquitos and all of them were delicious. They always have nice wine and appetizer specials and the staff is warm and friendly. Highly recommend!
Consistently outstanding seafood. Best patio in Decatur.
A long-time favorite goes sour. I was surprised to be able to easily get a table at 7:30 on a Friday night when making a reservation at 4:00 that afternoon. I was even more surprised to arrive at Wahoo Grill and find the place half empty at 7:30. After being seated, our party of 4 soon found out why. For years our favorite venue for fish and a delightful patio, Wahoo Grill must have been sold, or the owners have forgotten to mind the store. Service was slow to non-existent. The only service person on top of his job, to a fault, was the bus boy, who took our salad plates literally as we were chewing our last bites. Once the waiter had sold us drinks and delivered them, he disappeared, and was gone 20 minutes (on a slow night) before coming to take our appetizer order. After we had food, he disappeared again, not to be seen until time to try to sell desert. We had to request drinks and more water from other servers passing by. Our main courses were delivered within a minute of our salads, and taken back to the kitchen to sit under a hot lamp when the delivery person saw the error. Wine was not delivered until half-way through dinner. As on many previous occasions, food was generally very good, but service has deteriorated to a point where we wont be back soon.
Back in June of 2013 I pretty much slammed this place for its poor service (even though we were early and the place was not crowded) and unremarkable food. Just went back (December 11, 2016) and experienced exactly the opposite, as did the three of my companions. Service was wonderful. The scallops, ahi tuna, wahoo and trout were well prepared. Couldn’t have had a better experience. So, I owe it to the owners, chefs and waitstaff to recast my rating.
