What a GREAT Catch. Don’t let the stark fast food exterior within an outside suburban neighborhood fool ya. Catch22 is a convivial place to have a pint, sure, but also a wonderful place to eat. Simple, yet slightly more sophisticated style of food – a true gastro pub for sure. Order the Chef special for $12 each individual order is different every time. We saw a mac and cheese truffle gruyere jalapeo stuffed hotdog presented to one hearty eater.Comfy wooden booths with two massive communal sharing tables in the center. Dangling mason jar light bulbs add just enough warmth to the space which, on the night we visited, was buzzing. Once the word gets out in Athens which it will….expect to wait…and trust me it’s worth every minute.
The food is awful. The jerk wings cost $10 and there is nothing jerk about them. It’s just fried wings covered in sweet thai chili. The braised beef sandwich was hypertension on a bun. It was just unbearably salty. I definitely wouldn’t recommend!
Good Food, but Forgettable. I had lunch here the other day and while the food was good, it was also pretty forgettable. The service was good, environment is warm, but there’s something about the chefs glaring at you through the glass while you eat their food that is pretty unsettling. It was almost as if they were daring me to make a face indicating I didn’t like it. None of the staff seemed happy. Mac n’ Cheese was quite tasty, tomato soup was also good. We tried it because it is a new place, but we probably won’t be back it just isn’t something I’ll ever crave. Nothing special.
Awesome. Best burger I’ve eaten in Athens. Mushroom ravioli and coconut shrimp were great. Great beer selection. Chef Richard came by our table to chat. Chef really cares about the food. Menu changes constantly so new things to try. Definitely check this place out.21 Dec, 2013Awesome. Best burger I’ve eaten in Athens. Mushroom ravioli and coconut shrimp were great. I ate there with my family, some of the food was identical to Chops and Hops. My wife ordered street tacos, advertised on the menu as being hanger steak with some sort of sauce(i don’t remember what), but when they brought out the food they brought out chicken tacos with the same cheese sauce as our appetizer. FYI It’s also the same sauce they use on the chips at chops and hops. So we asked the waitress what was up, she said that they were out of steak and made this instead. So they knew from the get go that there was no steak or sauce and just threw something together. They never asked my wife if she wanted something else they just gave us something different. To add insult to injury the chicken was burnt and had bits of bone in it.In response to the whole thing the manager was unapologetic and all they did to rectify the situation was to not charge for the food they gave us that we didn’t order. Was the worst dining experience I’ve had in a while. Would not recommend.
Very disappointed. Good beer selections and attentive wait staff, but the food was lacking…flavor. I wanted to like the dirty fries, but didn’t like them. They were pretty terrible.
