Im surprised by the good reviews. My experience was just bad all around. General Tao’s was chewy, doughy, mild, and very dry. Lo mein noodles were mushy and watery. Egg roll lacked flavor. The menu says New York style Chinese. I’m from NY, and I don’t really know what that means, but this is similar to most other strip mall Chinese places in the south.
Best Chinese Food I’ve Ever Had. I discovered this diamond in the rough last week. I don’t typically write reviews unless I feel its significant enough to do so. This place is by far the best Chinese food in Athens/Watkinsville . They have some banners in their restaurant proudly displaying their ranking of 8 out of 100 best Chinese food in America, and I totally believe it. Everything is cooked perfectly, they use high quality foods, and many of their vegetables are grown locally. Each and every single piece of chicken in my General Tso’s chicken was perfect. I’m used to chewy or over cooked and too crispy burnt chicken from most places, but not this place. My wife and I looked at each other with eyes wide open as we both enjoyed our first bites of food. If you’re on this website looking up reviews for this restaurant, you must go eat there now!
Always good. My family has ordered takeout from Main Moon since it came to Watkinsville and we have never had a bad meal. Always fresh and delicious. When we call for takeout, as soon as we say extra pepper sauce they know who will be picking up.
Best in Athens. I have been eating at Main Moon for over ten years and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I am severely allergic to MSG, and I never have to worry about that at Main Moon. They have an open kitchen, they only use vegetable oil, and their food is delicious. I moved to north Athens several years ago, and we still drive all the way to Watkinsville if we want Chinese. It is that good.
Disgusted…. HORRIFIC! The 2 times I have been there, the smell of rotting meat is INCREDIBLE! Made me walk out the door without ordering.
