If you’re not from around here like me, I’m from the west coast, Los Angeles. I’ve grown up with Mexican food my whole life and when I moved to Savannah that was the one thing I missed most BUT NOT ANYMORE! Flacos Tacos is too die for, these people know authentic Mexican food and it is delicious!! Take it from someone who hasn’t had good Mexican food in three years, this place will satisfy your craving and you’ll be dreaming of Flacos Tacos until you go again.

What do you get when you mix a little piece of Mexico with a small East-coast city like Pooler, GA? Flacos Tacos! This is the best Mexican food that I have had on the east coast! The food is fresh, delicious and you can tell it is made from scratch! It is a small restaurant with picnic bench seating, and you almost feel like you are in Mexico. The owner, Flaco, served us and is a very nice guy who is very passionate about serving good Mexican food. He said he used to live in California, and had owned restaurants there (this isnt his first venture). Go for the Flacos Special on your first visit. You get four tacos and a drink for $10, which allows you to try all four flavors of meat: chicken, beef, pork and marinated pork (my favorite). Meat is tender. Served in soft corn tortillas that taste like they were made fresh. For other options, the quesadilla was large, and stuffed with LOTS of cheese. It was really good, but be ready for a heavy cheesy dish. Vegetarians beware, the salad is for meat lovers. I posted a pic, and you would never guess it was salad given the big pile of meat that hides the lettuce. All of the meat selections were super tender and savory as can be, but the marinated pork is the winner for me. They also serve house-made Hibiscus sweat tea, which was surprising concentrated and tart, and what I will probably get again next time (think cranberry juice). They also serve other authentic Mexican beverages (including Mexican bottled sodas). Its location is a bit off the main drag of Pooler, but it is not a big town, and its worth the visit (again and again). There is not a lot of seating, but they do serve as takeout if you want to eat it at home or somewhere else. However, I recommend eating at a table if available for the Mexican atmosphere.Update: Every Friday is fish taco Friday and they are da bomb! Covered in cabbage and a chipolte sauce. They have a bit spicy so beware if you don’t like spice. They are big so 1 or 2 are plenty. The burrito is great too and big! It comes wrapped in a flour tortilla rice and beans.
