The Front Porch is unbelievable! The Homey comfortable atmosphere is enhanced not only by the cozy small rooms, but the employees who truly care about making you happy. Abby the owner, and Jessica the Manager are warm hearted and authentic. They have created a place that is welcoming and interesting. Instead of using a ToGo cup every time you go in, you can purchase a Front Porch Logo cup where the funds will go to benefit those in a 3rd world country with water! My favorite brew is The Philosopher’s Cup…Yum! Ask for the quiche which comes from The Pie Society (the spinach feta is to die for) and you’ll be in heaven. My only complaint is that it is addicting! 😀
Stopped in on a road trip at 9am on a Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving). The two women working greeted us warmly and were very accommodating with the two specialty coffee drinks my husband and I ordered that weren’t on their menu. The pulled pork croissant was a creative surprise so we ordered two to go and were not disappointed. The pork was juicy, the croissant flakey with a light cinnamon dusting, and it came with a side of mustard BBQ. What a gem, why was that place not packed? Pooler, enjoy this coffee spot, it’s great!
Full disclosure: I am a coffee snob that roasts his own coffee beans every 4 days. I was exstatic to see a new coffee shop open in Pooler that brews fresh roasted single-origin beans (roasted in Atlanta) and brews using proper methods (pour over, chemex, french press). However the coffee was not brewed properly so I was not wow’d. I visited on their fourth day open so hopefully they are still figuring things out. This place has true potential! It’s in an old house so there are different rooms to sit in. There is even a room with toys and a couple couches if you bring kiddos. The rooms make it a great place for small groups to meet too. They stock pastries from Gottiebs bakery, an old famous bakery in Savannah that is making a comeback. I enjoyed a bacon, egg and cheese croissant, which was fresh, buttery, flaky and heavenly! I tried three types of coffee. I started with a Columbian french press which was sadly over extracted (bitter). Then I moved into a Nicaragua coffee brewed in a chemex, which was better but probably light on the beans. Then I finished with a pour over brew of the Columbia which was better than the over-extracted french press but not a perfect brew. I am going to give this place another try. They are a great cozy atmosphere and they have the right aspirations. I have faith that they will perfect their brew methods.
