Good Food. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Augusta. Anytime my entire family gets together (and I do mean entire 15-20 members) we go to Calverts. The service is always excellent as well as the food. My grandparents always insist on making the early bird special which is difficult for me because I work until 6 every day, but its nice to walk in and have my meal pre ordered for me. I’m not sure what Grandmas house smells like and I have never seen anyone passed out in there (it’s kind of an up scale place) Bottom line, if you are in town for the Masters or any other reason GO!! Heck you might even run into Arnold Palmer
What a Joyous Occasion!. I couldn’t be more happy than my experience at Calverts. The prices are some of the highest of Augusta, but it will be the finest quality food you will taste that Augusta has to offer. If you go during happy hour, the prices are not bad at all and are equivalent to any nicer chain restaurants. We had gone for my mother’s birthday and they gave us a complementary cake that was divine. It was more than enough for our party of four and we still had some to take home. I will definitely be back!
Another old fashioned dinosaur. We went here the night before Thanksgiving as a special celebration. It wasn’t our first choice, but most other nice restaurants were closed. We were seated quickly, but the decor was just another example of a dusty old restaurant in Augusta trying to be fancy. The bread was bland and the menu was disappointing to me. Our waitress was very nice and funny. Most of the food we ordered was just ok. It lacked seasoning, modernity, and flavor. I had the sea bass with lobster risotto and it was boring. We were given a complimentary flourless cake for our celebration which was very nice. And it was good, nothing great. I was very disappointed in the restaurant’s decor, selection of food, and overall quality of the meal.
Not exactly fine dining. You may get a little break in the early bird special as far as money but you certainly get what you pay for. Regular dinner is ok nothing spectacular. More of a senior place which is fine. No kids usually quiet peaceful atmosphere.
I hope this isn’t the best Augusta has to offer. The food was good, but not outstanding. Certainly not on par with what you can find in Atlanta and Savannah. The service was horrible though and I won’t be going back again.
