I am an Indian American and been to many restaurants. This place was no doubt the worst. Ordered takeout for 2 during early fall. First impression as I was walking in the parking lot, I asked customers leaving how their experience was. They said it was ok like it was nothing special. I walked in and it was like a sauna. No A/C? They had floor fans running. It was pretty packed because after all it is a small place. I can tell people and staff were uncomfortable and hot. The Indian manager at register was not friendly. Maybe because he knows I being Indian won’t like this place. I pre-ordered over phone thinking that that I over ordered for 2 people and we’ll have leftovers, but that was far from the case. I got home and there were ridiculously small portions. Then to add to our disappointment, the food was so bland and low quality. Too expensive for poor quality and quantity. It was like eating curried pureed baby food. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but want to warn others because do not want you to base your opinion of indian food from this place. Many indian reviewers rated this place low. India Cafe and Lahore Express (takeout mostly) is best in Augusta.
The name and outside put me off a bit but I have come to learn not to judge a restaurant by its cover. The staff was very friendly and quick with the orders. The meal was delicious and I plan on having dinner here again.
I love Curry Hut and I’m so glad they reopened. Their Saag Paneer is the best that I’ve had in the South and everything else I’ve tried has been excellent. As a pescetarian I love finding a place that has numerous meat free options and there are plenty at Curry Hut. Please go here and keep them in business!
The flavors are authentic, the price is great, service is wonderful. Staff willing and able to explain things if you are not familiar. Indian food is by far my favorite cuisine, but it is difficult to find a restaurant bold enough to serve good and legitimate, home cooked style, dishes that may not always appeal to the Western palate, but this one nails it. There are also a wide variety of standard classics you will see in nearly all Indian restaurants as well. Interior is a bit cramped and decor is definitely rustic/dated, but the warmth of the staff and the quality of both the buffet and menu items more than make up for it.
Mild is spicy to those with a sensitive tongue. But if you love spice it goes as high as insane. Service is very friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. The food was also very delicious.
