Best Korean Restaurant in GA Outside of Atl. The food was very tasty-much like my mom makes. I had the Soon Doo Boo and it was thick and flavorful. My husband had the L.A. style Gal Bi which was the best we have ever had in a restaurant. The owners and waitress were very attentive and polite. I will say it is more pricey than other Korean Restaurant but the authenticity, flavorfulness, and service is well worth it.

I’ve had my fair share of Korean food and this was ok. The food order took what seemed like an eternity. We ordered appetizers and didn’t get it till almost 25 min later. The bulgogi was watered down and the rest of the other food was mediocre. The price is definitely overpriced. Will probably not go back again.

Just had lunch at Happy House and it was wonderful. Great service, fresh incredible Korean dishes. This is a wonderful clean place to eat. Big portions, two could easily eat for the price if one. Wish they were closer to where we live. 5 stars without a doubt!

Enjoyable. After my family moved to Augusta from Seoul, we were really missing good Korean food. Happy House delivers. It reminds us very much of the hole in the wall establishments all over Korea. It is very no frills & the wait can be a little long during busy times. The food is the best we have had since leaving Korea.

Bibimbap at the Happy House. Okay, let’s face it, you’re not going to the Happy House for its ambiance or location. BUT it is clean and the staff is very friendly. The food, as other reviewers have said is not the best Korean I’ve ever had (go to Los Angeles or Baltimore for that) but the hot stone bibimbap and bulgogi was great, especially with the spicy bean sauce! If you haven’t tried Korean food before, this is the place in Augusta to do it. There is another korean place off of Columbia and Washington, but I wasn’t really impressed with it.

Best Korean food in the Area!. Just like everyone said, this place is now run by a new owner/chef with the new name of Happy House Korean Restaurant. Kind of corny, but the food makes up for it. I would agree with all the reviews. I’m half dutch, half Korean so have been around Korean my entire life. Literally, I was fed kimchi, watered down of course, as a baby. Although the food isn’t THE BEST Korean food I have ever had (I’m biased towards my pure Korean mother and especially grandmother’s food), it still is extremely good and well prepared. Best in the area by far. Unlike most modern day, Oriental restaurants in the area, this restaurant is not Americanized at all, keeping to it’s traditional dishes. However, the cook does update with new dishes he comes to learn about. The only downside, which isn’t really one considering the outcome, is that the restaurant is closed every Monday. Both the owner and his wife travel to Atlanta (where there is a huge population of Koreans, thus providing more grocery stores catering to that population) to get all the fresh ingredients that they hand select for that week’s service. That includes the beef, pork, fresh fish, vegetables, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. It’s extremely hard to find any restaurant, oriental or American, that still does that. Yes, the outside appearance might bring a bit of skepticism, but they have done a great deal of renovation towards the inside and outside of the restaurant. My mother and I’s all time favorite dish is Jang Pong. It’s a spicy, seafood noodle soup. My grandmother is HIGHLY regarded within her community and extended family as a great chef, so my mother saying it’s the best she has ever had says it all. The chef truly focuses on the quality of every dish and meal and caters to different tastes. ( the Jang Pong is a little too spicy for me, so he knows I like it just a tad bit more mild). The small side dishes are complimentary and made depending on what they made that week and by season. In other words, you’ll usually get a few side dishes that are different every time. One of the sides ggaktugi (pronouced gak too gee), the little cubed kimchi, is pretty amazing. All his kimchi is pretty good, actually. I know if you’re Korean this is nothing special, but if you want the full Korean dining experience ask for Bori Cha, barely tea. It can come cold or hot, and it’s good for you , too. The staff, who are all Korean, are so kind and friendly! They do a great job of keeping the place very clean and make sure that you are always satisfied. Don’t speak Korean, just ask for Yong, she speaks English the best. So if you need any help on what to get or understanding a dish, she will definitely help you out. They also have a spacious room in the back to cater to large groups. If you know Koreans, they love their Karaoke, so they have set up Karaoke in the room as well. My mother and her friends have had so many get-togethers (of at least 20 people, which the room accommodates comfortably) held there. A call in and pick up service is also available. I realize the review is longer than most, but I wanted to give this restaurant all the praise and attention it desires. If you’re looking for something different to try or want just want to experiment with Korean food, this is the place to go.Photo isn’t the best quality but it is of my hot stone bibimbap and my mom’s kimchi, tufo soup from our latest visit. Both were very, very good.
