  Disappointing about sums it up. I got the ‘taste of Woody’s’ plate because it had several different meats and I figured I’d try a bunch. Oh yeah, before the food, atmosphere blah blah blah; it looks like any other BBQ chain…semi-folksy with signs and crap hung up on the walls.Back to the ‘taste’ plate. I got BBQ beans and slaw as my sides. The beans were sort of spicy but really didn’t have much flavor. The slaw was good, but nothing exceptional and I wouldn’t be able to pick it out of a lineup of slaw felony suspects. The two biggest problems with the meat plate (see the picture) were the weird lukewarm temperature of the meat and the insanely over-buttered piece of Texas toast. It was like someone was trying to clean up melted butter and all they had was this piece of toast. Don’t get me wrong, I like butter, but you shouldn’t be able to wring it out of the toast. The temperature of the meat was confusing. I get it that the meat was probably all prepared the previous day- we went in for lunch and I think they hadn’t been open for an hour yet. Proper BBQ can’t be done in that amount of time. If they are going to heat the meats up, they should not be the same temperature they would be if they were properly heated and then left sitting for 20 minutes. The sausage was unremarkable, the turkey was okay, the chicken was ‘meh’, and the ribs needed sauce to have any decent flavor at all. This was not a $15.99 value by any stretch. My spouse reports that the brisket was good. I was told the pulled pork was okay as well.Service was good, prompt and friendly. I probably won’t go back. Woody’s is a bit out of the way for me and it just didn’t make me want to come back.
