I had the pasta Tagliatelle with ribbons of fresh squash and herbed bread crumbs. It was loaded with garlic and shallots. Delish. Would love to have the recipe so i could make it here in Lancaster PA.
Fantastic Easter brunch. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Ecco, but we had an incredible Easter brunch today. The service was spot-on, and the food was fantastic. Everything was cooked to perfection with attention to detail you’d expect from a great restaurant like Ecco. Glad to see they haven’t lost their touch, and that they’re still serving one of the most delicious plates in all of ATL: the fried goat cheese with honey and black pepper. This dish never gets old.
Wine list is the only redeeming quality. Though I dine out regularly, I have never written a review. However, my experience at Ecco was bad enough for me to break my silence. I had been to Ecco several times for drinks after work because they have a great wine list. If I wanted something to snack on, I would get the stuffed peppers, which are delicious. When a friend and I finally went for a meal, my food was inedible; seriously, I could only eat a couple of bites (and though I like quality food, I can eat a cheeseburger from McDonalds with no problem). I had a lobster appetizer and lamb meatballs. The lobster tasted like celery and nothing else – no flavor. The meatballs were drowned in a sauce that tasted like nothing but chives. The service was also terrible. We got no bread, and it took at least 20 minutes to get a drink. Maybe it is because my friend and I are young and the server assumed we would not tip well (which is completely inaccurate), but the service we got at the bar on every previous visit was much better. My friend barely touched her food as well.Bottom line – unless you are going for nothing but wine, save your money!
A Great Midtown Restaurant. We went to the Ecco for a late dinner after a show at the nearby Fox Theater. They have a beautiful interior and a pleasant outside seating area. Our server was wonderful. It is rare to get a server so thoroughly knowledgeable about the menu and able to give useful recommendations about the wine, cocktails and food. The cocktails were nice to excellent and we especially enjoyed the Queen for a Day.The food was also good to excellent with only one miss. The winners were the fried goat cheese ball appetizer, the braised pork over pappardelle pasta and the chocolate cherry bomb dessert. Good was the roasted mushroom pizza, the grilled asparagus side and the artichoke and sunchoke side. Unfortunately, we found the charred calamari (which sounded great and a nice change from the normal fried) to be a disappointment. There was no charring to be seen or tasted and the calamari was extremely fishy and unpleasant tasting.I would definitely return.
Sharing delicious food. We were very happy to enjoy the nice atmosphere of Ecco, just around the Peachtree Street corner, for a summer outdoor dinner.Portions are not too big, we shared a selection of 3 cured meat/cheese, which came with very fine homemade (?) bread. The entrees (Pork flat Iron and Wood-fired Pizza) with a fresh salad were delicious. We were positive surprised by the Mediterranean taste and the very nice staff!!
