Odd Experience Turns Out Well. We had a reservation for six at 11:30 AM on Sunday. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived. We entered the restaurant at 11:15 and were encouraged to squeeze 6 large (and two elderly) people into a booth. We indicated that we wanted a table instead. A large table in middle of dining room was sitting unused. Hostess and manager refused to seat us at the table. Manager indicated that it was reserved for a party later in the day. He indicated there was no other place for us to sit in the (half-empty) dining room. We asked again about the unused table 15 feet from us. The manager refused. We walked out and headed to Cheesecake Factory, where we were seated promptly (with no reservation) and enjoyed a nice Sunday brunch. The tragedy is that we’re on the Brookwood mailing list and have had pleasant experiences in the past. The food was delicious–especially beef selections– and the service good. Unfortunately, we will never again be dining there due to the totally unresponsive treatment we received yesterday.UPDATE 4/9/13 Owner of Brookwood replied to my posting very promptly with a thoughtful and gracious apology. We will try them again.UPDATE 4/13/13 Just had a nice lunch at Brookwood. Our experience on this occasion was comparable to past good experiences–fast, efficient service, generally excellent food, with novel and attractive presentation. We arrived at 11:15 again, but this time with no reservation and were seated promptly. Chips and dip for appetizer were very tasty. Pizza not so much–removed from check without our even asking. Prime rib was outstanding as were garlic mashed potatoes. Gourmet hamburger was amazing. Brownie with ice cream was fine for desert. Although we made no mention of our prior bad experience, the servers and manager were constantly checking to make sure our lunch was pleasant. I’m happy to say it was! We’ll be back.
Service was excellent however the food was not. Ordered a special: crab cake with scallops. Scallops were cooked perfectly however I was extremely disappointed when I had to stop eating them after I chewed sand on the first bite. The crab cake didn’t taste fresh it tasted too strongly of the fillers and seasoning and not like fresh crab. My friend ordered a seared tuna salad and asked for oil and vinaigrette instead of the honey mustard dressing that it came with but it was covered in the honey mustard dressing and oil and vinegar was brought out to her, which was pointless. Overall great ambiance and service but food was lacking. Not impressed.
Quick service and superb food. The crabcake was out of sight! Top shelf!
Best French Onion Soup on the planet!. It doesn’t get any better than Brookwood’s french onion soup! Seriously perfect! Service and food are always great. We’ve had a few company lunches/dinners there and they always take great care of our groups.
Love It!. I was going to write it’s like feels like Houston’s but everyone already wrote that.. I have been eating at Brookwood since they have opened. The service is always professional from every staff member. I have been there for dinner and lunch, I have never had a bad experience there. I would recommend anything on the menu, I especially like the dinner specials. Brookwood also has a great wine selection and the servers have a good knowledge about the wines.
Maybe fir him but Not for us. This place sets a nice ambiance and honestly had me from the moment I walked in…so why the negative review? In short people make the place and the staff were self absorbed pre madonnas that took one look at me a (a young, 6’3, AA, male) and that was that. No service with a smile. Thank god it is Sunday.
Splendid. Basically any time I want to have a guaranteed good meal, this is where I go. The service never lacks, the food is always delicious. I send friends and family here when they want a good time outside of the city, and I hope others do the same.
