As a restaurant, this place is good… the bakery, though, is phenomenal. By far the best macaroons I’ve ever had, and I’ve had them at some of the finest places in the world including Harrods (the Larterie), and the ones they have here are better (but not nearly the selection or exotic flavors). The coconut macaroons are unreal, so soft, buttery, and coconutty.

Desserts Oui Oui / Lunch No No. Went to Douceur de France today for lunch. I had the Chicken Panini Sandwich which came with brie and tomato. I really wasn’t thrilled with the sandwich. An uninspiring combination. My blonde babe lunch partner had Turkey and Cheddar on a baguette. Average at best. Would have done a better job at home. The desserts, look GREAT. We had one…the Chocolat Eclair. Yummy. All of the desserts looked INCREDIBLE. What you’d expect out of a French Bakery. Check the pics I uploaded. I only wish the lunch was half as good as the desserts look.

Bakery Makes It All Worthwhile. The baking is absolutely wonderful – pastries are beautiful and yummy (as good as Alon’s) and the almond croissant is everything an almond croissant should be. The food items are good. Coffee is meh. The complaint is the varying service – ranging from competent and laid back to non-existent. The classic was the time our waiter just left – his father came and got him and no one knew we were just sitting there for about 30 minutes. Yet, the baking is so good that it compensates for those times that service is lacking. Patience pays off…
