We loved this place!. For our anniversary, my husband and I got an internet deal for Pastis, so we decided to try it. Not really knowing if we were limited to anything specific on the menu, we ordered our cocktails and discussed what we wanted. The service was very relaxed. I had read other reviews saying that the service was not good, but we did not find that to be the case. This is a French restaurant, and traditionally in European restaurants, service is not rushed – they want you to take your time and enjoy your meal from start to finish. Bamba, our server who hails from France originally, let us do just that. He was extremely helpful and answered our questions regarding the menu, giving his recommendations (which were spot on, by the way), but he did not rush us through our meal. We saw him several times checking on us from afar, but he did not hover. We ordered two appetizers, the calamari Pastis and the mussels with fries. Both were excellent! I highly recommend the fries! They are delicious dipped in the sauce that covers the mussels. For our entree, our server recommended the Bison short ribs. I went with those, and my husband chose the duck confit – both were literally falling off the bone tender. The 2 short ribs that came to me were gigantic! I was only able to eat one. They were delectably tender and served with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted veggies, which were good, but the short ribs were the clear winner on the plate. My husband’s duck disappeared in about two minutes, but he did let me have a bite or two, and it was awesome!I can’t say enough positive things about our server. We mentioned to him that it was our anniversary, and he gave us a complimentary dessert sampler as well as two complimentary glasses of champagne. We thoroughly enjoyed talking to him and appreciated very much his generosity. If you want a relaxed yet upscale meal in a bistro-esque atmosphere, try this restaurant. We went on a Tuesday night, so it was not crowded at all. They had some live music when we arrived, and apparently they have it every night. We very much enjoyed our experience at Pastis!
Interesting place. Only had apps and dessert was good but not the best…..the band is old fashion and so are the people going in there, i feel like i have gone back in time there on a friday and sat night, sunday jazz is great
Thanksgiving at Pastis. We traveled for SC to have dinner with our son at Pastis. My husband and myself have been there several times while in Roswell. However, dinner on Thanksgiving was so disappointing. It was more like having dinner at a fast food restaurant. Food was not hot, presentation was not appealing and the price was too high for what we got. We will no longer have dinner at Pastis while visiting Roswell.
Great Meal. We had an enjoyable experience. The four of us sampled multiple appetizers and entrees and everything we tried was very tasty. I highly suggest the panko crusted oysters and the Lamb Shank. The creme brulee was great but the chocolate mousse was dense like pudding. Service was also excellent and prices are very reasonable for the quality.
Best French Onion Soup. We ate dinner at Pasti’s on Sunday night. 4 adults and two children – everything delicious. They quickly brought out the food for the children which was so helpful. Several of us had the French Onion Soup which was the best I’ve had in many years, with the bread and cheese topping done to perfection. All entrees were delicious as well, and the salad I had was fresh, interesting, and huge. Not many restaurants offer crepes any more so I got the appetizer size spinach and mushroom crepes as my entree. Beautifully done, and more than I expected. I recommend Pastis and will go out of my way next time I travel to Atlanta area to eat there again.
Will Return. Had a date night w/ hubby. My food was delicious. I had (aptzr) the Flame Grilled Local Watermelon Valbreso Feta Cheese on Baby Arugula. For my entree, I enjoyed the Braised Lamb Shank with Gruyere Gratin Potatoes and Oven Roasted Tomatoes Haricot Vert Lamb Jus w/ a side order of asparagus. For an aptzr, husband had the Pastis Lamb Balls touch of Seasoned Pork w/ Fresh Herbs and /Garlic. He liked the aptzr but said his entree was just ok. It was the Bison With Pappardelle – Braised Bison Roast, Roasted Red Pepper Pappardelle, Chefs Blend Of Mushrooms, English Peas and Carrots w- Bordelaise I tasted it and it just needed a little bit more seasoning. The martini I had was great as well. It wasn’t on the menu-bartender made it up for me. First thing I tasted was Chambord and she said, YES! that is correct. WE LOOVVEEE the jazz band (which is every Sun). We will return. If not for the brunch (wld like to try), definitely for the Jazz band, cocktail and aptzr.
Service fine, food bland. Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Decor was nice and the restaurant had a neat feel to it. Server was attentive and very friendly. The brunch menu was very extensive (which I’ve learned is not necessarily a good thing) and the prices were a bit high. Mimosa’s were fine but they were seven dollars and very small. My girl and I did not get an appetizer as they were quite expensive. Our entree’s were very poorly presented. The asparagus on my plate was undoubtedly microwaved. The potatoes on our plates were definitely not made to order as they were lukewarm. Both of us had dishes with salmon in them (eggs benedict, salmon crepes). The bread on my dish was incredibly doughy and the salmon was ridiculously salty. The eggs on our plates, however, were perfectly poached but a little on the cold side. No interest in returning after I paid forty dollars for two mimosa’s and two extremely mediocre entrees.
