Response from the Owners. Having been in business since the fall of 2002, we’d like to thank all of you who have taken the time to have a true chocolate experience in our store! We look forward to having you back again soon! After reading the post from Kacee Hugeuly on February 02, 2011, we felt compelled to respond regarding the availability of fresh chocolates at our store. We make everything on site using quality ingredients WITH the exception of the non-pareils, which we’ve chosen to keep due to their nostalgic popularity. We have about 70 different varieties to choose from at anytime, and are happy to take custom request to merge a combination of your favorite ingredients, make a special shape…you name it.With over 1,000 custom shapes available, it’s impossible for us to have one of each in milk, white, and dark chocolate readily available for immediate purchase. That’s why they are custom ordered, which in turn ensures freshness.Mention this post and get a free chocolate to taste for your own opinion about the freshness of our product! We look forward to seeing you!
We went back for more. We decided to hunt down the Schakolad shop in Sandy Springs. It was very easy to locate and fairly convenient off 285 near Perimeter Mall. The two ladies who were tending the shop the Saturday afternoon we first went there were incredibly helpful. I wasn’t sure at first how their chocolate would stand up against my experience w/ Vosges (an expensive, gourmet chocolate). We got a fairly good sample of their selection. Out of the selection, we found the dark chocolate salted caramel and the dark chocolate covered pretzels our favorites. The white chocolate key lime was a tasty bit of an adventure. In fact all of the chocolates were an adventure. They had a strawberry basil that was yummy with its strawberry start with just a hint of earthy basil after the chocolate and strawberry flavors had begun to fade.I thought the chocolates were very good quality. I will say that some *were* fresher than others. It probably would be good if they would shorten their shelf life on them. Not that any of them were bad, but the fresher chocolates gave us a lovely experience (A+), while the few that were older were a good experience (A-).The next week we went back for more. I’m going to have to keep away and make that place a once-a-month visit. 🙂
Not even close to fresh– went here a couple of weeks ago for nonpareils and they were overpriced and dry in taste. They clearly get little foot traffic business and do not seem to keep fresh stock on hand unless it’s a custom order
The owner was very friendly and informative about their products and the city of Atlanta. My wife says that they had the best chocolate covered cherries that she has ever had. I am sure that we will be going back before we leave town.
