DisappointingIve been wanting to go to Horseradish Grill for many years, but it is kind of far out of the parts of Atlanta that we normally frequent. So we had to make it a special destination. It was a very nice evening and we sat at one of the pleasant outside tables. The inside is very clubby looking and also looked inviting. Our waiter was a little too jocular for my taste but was generally efficient. Our foursome started with three of the house cocktailsEast Meets West, Cathead Cocktail, and Crazy Basil. All were mediocre to not very good.We then tried the shrimp and grits appetizer which was OK but didnt have a richness of flavor that it needed. The tempura okra was quite nice but the sweet chili sauce tasted exactly like the one I buy in the grocery store. The house mixed green salad and the poached pear salad were nice but nothing special. For our entrees we had the lamb chops and the trout which were, again, nice enough but nothing special. The tartar sauce with the trout tasted like it was made by mixing in that awful, fake-flavored liquid smoke. We also had their famous fried chicken which was bland and in need of seasoning. The mashed potatoes that came with a couple of the entrees were really bland and not worth eating. The best dish by far was the very good duck breast. The sauce with it was delicious and the farro side was great. We didnt bother with dessert.Considering the good reviews and the prices, I expected something a whole lot better. And, in the same price range, there are so many other restaurants in Atlanta that deliver a superior dining experience.
Great Brunch. Every meal we’ve had at Horseradish Grill has been excellent, and this one was no different. The service was also great, from the valet parking to the wait staff. We ordered the bread basket and each of us ordered a brunch entre, and all were well prepared and well seasoned. The bread basket was late coming, but it was Sunday morning and we were in no hurry, plus the coffee and conversation was good, so we barely noticed it was late. When it came our server apologized for its tardiness and took it off the check. That was an unexpected and delightful statement of their commitment to excellent service. I highly recommend Horseradish Grill and the bread basket.
