I’ve been to Huey Lueys 6 times, and I’ve tried a number of dishes. Generally, the entrees are good, the staff is upbeat and helpful, and the atmosphere is trendy and fun. I have only 3 complaints, and none are necessarily deal breakers. The brisket has always been chewy and I’ve left more on my plate than I’ve eaten. The ground beef arrives in sticky clumps that are a little unappetizing. My 3rd complaint is one that neighbors warned me about, so I blame myself for not heeding. I was told that if I arrive at Huey Lueys at opening time, the restaurant would have an offensive bleach smell. Evidently, a bleach-product is used for cleaning just prior to opening. Because of scheduling issues I had to stop by H.L. at 11:00, when they first opened that day. Sure enough, the smell of bleach was so strong that I couldn’t eat most of my lunch. If this had been my first visit, it would have been my last. I emailed my complaint to Huey Lueys, but a week later I had another 11:00 lunch at the restaurant, and the problem was just as bad. So my advice is – give Huey Lueys a try, but don’t show up before 11:45 or later for lunch. That will give the bleach enough time to dissipate.

Visited this restaurant on a weeknight and was extremely disappointed. Upon entering, we were greeted and seated downstairs. The restaurant has a great vibe, which is unique to the area. We ordered drinks to begin and we’re given complimentary chips and salsa. The waiter forgot to bring lemons with our waters. I later asked him if we could have lemon, which he said he would bring, but never did. I ordered a Bloody Mary and he ordered a beer. When the Bloody Mary came, it looked NOTHING like the picture. It was supposed to come with bacon, lime, olives, and a celery stalk. It came with a lime and that was it. I was extremely disappointed because the drink was $8.95. I asked where the bacon was, and the waiter said they didn’t have any. Upon taking a sip, it was AWFUL. One of the worst I had ever had. We got a food, a variety of tacos with rice and beans. The Tacos and rice were delicious, but the beans were awful. Once the waiter finally came back, I told him the drink was awful, and asked for a Pineapple Margarita. When I was almost done with my food, the new drink came, and it looked like a Lime Margarita because it was green and had a lime in it. Before the waiter left, I asked if it was a Pineapple Margarita, and he said yes. Upon taking a sip, it was a Lime Margarita. I was extremely disappointed, and had to send it back. The food was decent, but the service was so awful, we will probably never return. This was extremely disappointing, since it is a new restaurant in the area. Not recommended.
