Eligant Restaurant in Savannah’s Historic District. The very first thing that sets me off is when you make a reservation for 7:00 PM and you arrive a couple of minutes before seven there are twelve tables four with customers and the table they are going to seat you at is there set up and ready to go; then they say would you like to sit in the bar while we get ready. I do not get that. When you go out to eat at a luxurious restaurant that has the highest prices in town you expect the service to be of the highest standard. The 45 Bistro is that type of restaurant and they generally keep their standards high but the do fall short in a few areas. I often wonder how it could be if I notice something right off the bat why is it that the person handing me an item does not take notice of the same thing. For our main course one of the wait staff brought the customary Heavy Duty Steak Knife. The tip of the knife was badly bent as though someone had been prying cans open with it. Anything that happens in a business I attribute to the supervising staff but some fault goes as I said to the person handing you the bent instrument. My lovely wife and I started our evening with Champagne. I ordered a Perrier-Jouet. The waiter came to the table and without even showing the bottle or a word said started to pour Champagne. Now Perrier-Jouet has a very distinctive bottle and I could see that it was not Perrier-Jouet and I asked him about it. He casually replied Oh we are out of that Perrier but this is a Perrier we are substituting for it as if it was perfectly normal to switch ones wine order with something else without say a word. Our starter was Foie Gras. Again I would think that a fancy high priced restaurant with its own chef would make a dish themselves and have a unique presentation. The Foie Gras was merely a canned foie Gras plopped out of the can cut in half and served with the canned gelatin still attached. When I write a review I have the hope that it will help you but I also hope the the restaurant will read the review and help themselves. On to the main course my wife had the daily special which was two Lamb T-bones. The two lamb chops turned out to be two inches thick. They were mammoth, and cooked to perfection. My wife could only eat one and the other landed in the go box. My entre choice was the Duck two ways. I dont know if you have heard me rail about seared duck breast before but I think it is a way for restaurants to get out of all the work and time involved in cooking a duck in the proper French manner. They confit the thigh and leg, why not confit the whole duck. The seared duck breast was one of the better ones that I have had. The confit thigh and leg were just a bit overdone but still excellent. The restaurant is in the is in the Marshal House in the historic districts of Savannah The hotel and the restaurant are beautiful down to the elegant restrooms.

We were very pleased with the atmosphere, service, and food. Don’t shy away from a steak from this place- the waiter vouched for the meat as being premium steakhouse quality and he was right.

A Great Find in Savannah. Went to 45 Bistro with a group of 16. We had a private room. The service was impeccable and the food was on point.I had the Caesar Salad and the Margharita Pizza. My wife had the Grouper. The salad had that extra garlicky flavor you get from house made dressing. The pizza and Grouper were just superb.Others in our group had the Ribeye, Filet, and even the Sushi Bento Box.What a great diverse menu. Will definitely return the next time we are in Savannah.
