Everything we had tonight was beyond excellent! Highly recommend this restaurant. Great new chef and wait staff was on point!Best shrimp and grits you’ll ever have.
This was the first time we ate there. We had dinner there last night and it was a party of 8. I and 2 others in our party ordered the Seafood Ciopinio and it had lobster in it. I took a bite of lobster and it tasted like ammonia. The other 2 smelled their lobster and it smelled like ammonia. I don’t understand how the Chef did not smell it. The ammonia smell indicated spoilage of the lobster. Sent it back and ordered something different. I did not care for the next dish. The prime rib was tough. I did not bother sending it back. My husband was disappointed with his Root Beer Short Rib. We will not return to Cohen’s Retreat. It was a $100.00 mistake for dinner. All they did was replace the dinners and offered no kind of compensation. The beer was warm, and service was ok, but we had to go looking for the server to let him know about our dinners. The rest of the party had finished their dinners and had to wait for us when we got it to finish our dinner. Not a good experience at all.
Mother’s Day. I have been to Cohen’s Retreat before and what a treat. I thought it would be a great place to spend Mothers Day and was pleased that I was able to get a reservation. What a disappointment. There was a beautiful buffet set up, which I am not a fan of food sitting out and others picking through what they want. The food was cold and only tasted like salt. Cold fried fish, cold crab cakes, cold sausage, cold eggs, yuck. We asked for coffee with our dessert, charged another $2.50 per person (we had already ordered tea) and it was served in paper cups and was cold. Really?? They should have listed on their website or FB page that they were having a buffet. I would have made another choice.I will return, but not for Mothers Day buffet.
