Very seldom do I rate a restaurant 5.0! We heard through other reviews the long and early wait to get in (45 minutes on a Friday morning) was worth it. When we finally got in we were surprised to find tables set with fresh fried chicken, biscuits, corn bread, and about a dozen other sides. Patrons are seated 10 to a table and service is family style, with plenty to go around. The chicken was the best I’ve ever had, crispy and moist, and I enjoyed most of the sides. Cost was fixed per person and cash only policy with no receipts concerning . One has to wonder how they track their sales for tax purposes. According to one server, leftovers are not wasted, but given to the staff. To take home. We were glad to hear that, as there were many. Great restaurant and a must for Savannah visitors!

Very rarely do I give a place a 5 but this legend lives up to the hype and much more. So this is an experience not a meal. From tge massive line that you will wait in happily to the cozy little ambiance, communal dinner table the staff that makes you feel as though you are visiting their home, and the food that is bountiful and delicious! Win win win!!!!! I love this place! The fried chicken is 1 of my favorites full stop! This a must try no matter what when in Savannah! At 25 bucks you wont find a better memory!

Such a unique and fun experience! It’s a must try… but you must show up super early. Just plan to be in line, bring some water and if you’re in a group you can take turns on line. Just make sure to have your whole party together when you closer to the door. They were calling smaller groups to come ahead to fill seats. Be prepared for ALOT of food and a fast paced family style dining experience. Super fun – we enjoyed it so much! Also try the sugar scrub in the bathroom! Lovely!

A must try if you to try every southern vegetable ever. 1 hour in line on a beautiful street in savannah. They only served from 11-2 and have 8 tables of 10 of your new closest friends. When were seated there were 20 white bowls of home cooking waiting for us and of course sweet tea. The granddaughter of Mrs Wilkes was a delightful woman that is gracious and should be proud of this life business!

Excellent food! We got there just before 10:00 am and we were first in line. Shortly after that the line was down the street. The doors opened just before 11:00, and it was worth the wait! When we left the line was still down the street.

First time here and we arrived just as the 1st group was let in…about 11:20am…waited about 30-40 mins for our group to go and be seated with 4 others….the bowls of food looked 7 smelled better, we passed the bowls around the table making small talk & then fell silent as we tasted from our plates. Amazing hearty food with sweet tea & for dessert, peach cobbler or banana pudding…all u can eat for $22, CASH only. It was about 50 degrees out and guess not alot of people showed, although when we left abt 30 mins later, the line was down the street…..Mrs Wilkes grand daughter came around to each table & spoke briefly, hoping all had a good meal…hope to get back to this loving place soon.

The food and experience is well worth the wait. It’s traditional southern style, served family style. You’ll share your table with other guests, which adds to the experience.
