Well, it’s difficult to write a review of this place. Really, the staff and service is quite bizarre but the food is great. Party of two, we showed up on a Friday night without reservations and even though the restaurant was half-filled they questioned whether they would seat us. Once seated we ordered two glasses of wine and some hummus. A few minutes later our waiter came back and asked if we perhaps, had ordered hummus. Ummm, yes. Then he came back a few minutes later and asked if we wanted something to drink. Ummm, we ordered wine a few minutes ago. There were only two other tables in our section so it was strange that our order was so hard to keep straight. After quite a bit we got our hummus and wine. The hummus was hands down awesome but we only got a few small pieces of pita to eat it on. With a plate full of hummus left over we asked our waiter for more pita and were informed it would be $2. We agreed but 30 minutes later our dinner showed up sans pita. Sigh. Our meal was delicious and generous but the waitstaff seemed confused and it left us wondering how such great food comes from such a conundrum. We had read reviews that others had experienced similar situations so we were not shocked. Go eat, but be prepared for a service circus.
Wow, amazing. We ordered a meat trio, spanikopita, kookoo trio, etc. everything was homemade. The salad was topped with homemade feta shavings, raspberries, and toasted sunflower seeds. I’m officially in a huge food coma, but everyone must try this delicious and authentic Mediterranean and Iranian cuisine at least once. It isn’t often you find a sweet family run joint like this; the interior design is also adorable 🙂
The food here is amazing but I will never return for this reason- we waited 20 minutes for wine pita bread and salad. The restaurant had about 5 tables seated including ours. I overheard a family asking the table next to me how long have they been waiting for food. All of our food appeared at once! Yes the food is amazing and fresh but once the chef came out to greet us we told her she should inform her servers to let patrons know she is the only one in the kitchen and they will be waiting about an hour for food. The chef instantly became angry and said she told her staff to tell everyone and they are stupid and don’t care about her customers. We instantly defended our server and let her know she apologized for the wait over and over and was very attentive to us. The server was standing right next to the table as the chef yelled and treated her like garbage. When she came back with the bill she was crying and informed us she was fired and called horrible names. These people have an amazing restaurant but have no idea how to treat the staff. This is the worst thing I have ever seen. Maybe in Iran you treat employees like that but not here lady! You can’t run a kitchen yourself and threaten your servers to get out if they come asking for a tables salad! My husband and I left this young lady a very generous tip just to be told her tips are being held. Please don’t give this place your business.
Weird, Miserable Vortex. I have so many things to say about my experience that my head is spinning. Before I begin let me say that the food is very good. It’s too good. Everything except the food was a terrible experience. I took heed of other reviewers on Yelp and made a reservation. When my party of 3 arrived the manager took us upstairs and our table was not ready. She berated the server for not doing her job preparing the table and took us (while STILL talking very unprofessionally about the server to us) downstairs where we continued to wait 15 more minutes. The server upstairs sat down and had a jolly conversation with some other patrons. Or family members. I don’t know. Once we were finally seated the our server (who ended up being the manager) took our order and then we waited. And waited. 45 minutes: no wine. 1 hour: no appetizer or wine. Other guests were looking around as upset and we were who had been waiting for their meal long before we got there. Patrons were entering the door and mysteriously the manager was turning them away. Why? I don’t know, because every so often she would seat a table or two. We finally got our wine, appetizer, and entrees all at once. And it was delicious! While we ate we overheard the manager and server talking about the customers seated, and also how they use fake smiles while they work. Completely unprofessional! I’ve worked in customer service and have a high tolerance little malfunctions – but come on! Even management is talking about customers IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS? Persepolis is some weird vortex that seemingly doesn’t try to provide a pleasant atmosphere. Everything doesn’t add up to the quality of the food. This could be a great restaurant if everything else wasn’t miserably bad.
Charming and authentic feel good restaurant with delicious food!!. The finest ingredients and made from scratch traditional Greek foods. Eli was our sweet and personable server and confidently made perfect recommendations! The matriarch owner came out from the kitchen with her husband to greet us after our meal. When inside, you feel like you’re in their Greek home kitchen. I got the 4 appetizer sampler and very much enjoyed the hummus, eggplant dip, spanakopita, and homemade heavenly tzatziki! My boyfriend got the lamb special….when he picked up the bone the meat literally fell off leaving a completely bare bone–so tender!! A feel good restaurant that will warm your heart! They just don’t have any other places like this in savannah! It will be one of our regular spots!
