Just OK. After hearing people rave about this place I ordered a trio of 3 pralines, 3 milk chocolate/pecan gophers, and 3 pcs. pecan divinity. The pros: Order was shipped promptly in very attractive packaging; would have made a great gift. Each piece was generous in size. The cons: I found all the candy very sugary but not that flavorful. The pecans were nice (except the occasional bad one) and the caramel was OK, but the chocolate was just sugar–didn’t really get a chocolate flavor at all (scraped it off the top and tossed it).Didn’t get much of a pecan flavor from the divinity either; again, more sugary than flavorful. The pralines were so-so, but to be fair I suspect I am not a huge fan of that particular candy. Since I have had much more flavorful chocolate/pecan gophers/turtles and divinity from other stores, I will not be ordering those items again from SCK.
Don’t trust them with gift orders. Who’d have thought after such a friendly operator took my initial call that my $250 gift order would be a disaster. My customer never received their gift – even though my credit card was charged the very day I called. I finally had to cancel the order as the shipping department evidently couldn’t get any help from production. Never again. I looked like a fool when this important customer got nothing from me for the holidays.
The pralines are to die for!. I’m not a huge fan of praline candy. I recall my first experience as a child traveling through the south and biting into some hard, gritty, sugary confection that was underwhelming to say the least. While on vacation in Savannah exploring the marketplace, I decided to try some pralines because they looked absolutely delectable when I walked in. I was NOT disappointed – hands down the best pralines I’ve ever had. I was actually mad at myself for only getting one. I’m still dreaming about going back!
The homemade ice cream is yummy! We got pink grapefruit and butter pecan and both were delicious. Get a piece of divinity. It was to die for!
Gopher heaven with milk chocolate on top! I’ll take four dozen, please!
I swear I would fly back to the US just to buy some of their gophers!. I hadn’t heard about the candy kitchen before I visited Savannah but happened to walk past and the smell alone propelled me inside. Gorgeous shop, and the gophers were to die for.
Great fun!. FUDGE! terrific place to stop. Be prepared to buy something, it’s hard not to and if you have kiddos with you set limits -before- going in. There are so many different items to choose from!
