Awesome Spot. This place is awesome. Went here multiple times on a short trip to Savannah. They had great pastries, soups, and really cool purple sweet potato pancakes. I was thrilled with all the vegan options (vegan breakfast burrito, vegan soups, vegan butter, vegan pancakes, vegan cookies, etc!).Staff was very friendly, the prices were very reasonable, and I also loved all the bicycle parking.
The Bean is amazing! Very cool place, great food, great setting, best food. Only bummer is their choice of bird home out on their porch. Should have got one from Tallfirebirdhomes.com
Vegan sweet tooth?. Decent vegan dessert options (many choices).
Takes me back…. Reminiscent of my favorite coffee shops of the 90’s in another town i used to live in. i was pleased to find the sentient bean right next to brighter days health food store with its comforting shabbiness. theres a lot to be said for places with a relaxed unpretentious atmosphere, beautiful location, and a good product- organic fairtrade coffee!!! the staff is friendly and down to business and there are no hassles from anyone. get a cup, a paper, pick a comfy seat and stay as long as you like.
Great coffee, very hip place!. I tried this place late at night before taking the Zombie Ghost Walk. When I walked inside I was actually sad that I didn’t have time to stay and sit on one of their cozy couches and soak in the artsy atmosphere. The menu was innovative and looked incredible, but there were people in line behind me so I settled for an iced mocha. Thinking I had settled for the boring choice, I was suprised when my drink was incredibly delicious. There was just the right amount of smooth coffee flavor and the chocolate was wonderfully rich. Definitely a step up from Starbucks! If I go back to Savannah, I will definitely return – and this time, I’ll be sure to have my coffee inside!
Unimpressed. I was looking for a place to take some out-of-town vegan friends, and we chose the Sentient Bean, as it was one of the only options on a Sunday. We waited around 20+ minutes for the food to come out, which is not a big deal if the food is good ( though I’m not sure why breakfast food takes that long to prepare). The food was rather bland, and for that reason, overpriced. We split some of our portions, and I had to force myself to finish the Quiche Quiche and Breakfast Burrito. It wasn’t nasty, but I would never buy again. Hopefully, the coffee fare is much better, but I will never buy food there again, and I’m not sure I’m willing to give the coffee a try because of my experience with the food.
They don’t take cards and their ATM is broke! It’s 2012 people.
