BEST FRIED GREEN TOMATOES My wife and I got seats at the lower bar. The lower level of the restaurant is more rustic and the upper level more elegant. We started by sharing the fried green tomatoes. I have only one word. Excellent! We each wanted to order the chicken pot pie. Unfortunately they were out of it. My wife had the fried chicken with Mac and cheese which she enjoyed. Since their regular portion is enormous she asked to delete the wings and thighs which they did and only charged for a half portion. I had the duck which was presented in a rich sauce with sides of fresh fruit and collard greens. It was also very good. Service was prompt and friendly.

It’s hard to beat this beautiful venue – just a lovely, old southern lady! My beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly, but I didn’t really care for the sauce. Asparagus and twice baked potato were the sides. Asparagus cooked crisp tender – just like I enjoy. The twice baked potato was okay and dry. Great service, and talented vocalist that visits tables and sings on request.

Extremely average meal. She crab soup with very little crab and raw flour taste. Caesar salad dressing tasted bottled. Raw oysters were good and fresh. Grouper was cooked correctly but the put on top of average plain mashed potatoes. Sauce was ok but very plain.

Phenomenal food. Loved the vidalia onion and sweet potato ravioli with a sweet pecan sauce. Beautiful atmosphere with lots of cool history. Definitely have a drink in the basement tavern bar before or after dinner!

LET ME START OFF BY FIRST STATING THAT THIS IS NO ELIZABETH ON 37TH. THIS IS A WATERED DOWN VERSION ( BUT THE DRINKS ARENT!!!! :)))) ) I HAD THE BONE IN RIBEYE – IT HAD TOO MUCH SAUCEY SAUCE ON IT. MY WIFE HAD THE LOBSTER TAILARINOS THEY WERE DEEP FRIED! IT WAS SIMILAR TO KFC/POPEYES TEXTURE PRETTY GOOD NOT GREAT!

The floors are 245 years old. That wasn’t a typo. Quaintness is off the charts. Chef’s Fried Chicken is the quintessential southern comfort food.

This restaurant had one of the best all around experiences I’ve had in a long time. Atmosphere, food, service, history, and price. A+ period. The quality and quantity matches price well. We have been to a couple other comparable places but this is a must go to in savannah. I recommend getting a seat in the tavern for a nice date night.
