Palmer’s is a local place for us, so we go often, and do take-out often. The food is very good overall, but inconsistencies in both dine-in (servers are quick to correct) and take-out orders (which can cause inconvenience–like a two-patty All American burger that arrives with only one patty) are frequent enough to be worth mentioning (and knocking a point for). For as long as they’ve been open, the kitchen doesn’t seem to have found a consistent rhythm yet. Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich is hands-down our favorite. Reuben Sandwich is delicious. Burgers are OK; don’t stand out much. The Brisket Tacos have good flavor, but there’s little meat in them. Smoked Brisket Nacho appetizer is the same–good flavor for what meat there is, but there isn’t much–so I’m guessing they’re often limited on their supply of brisket and get stingy with it. French Dip is unremarkable, lacking in beefy flavor, salty with a stale overnote–done it twice to give it’s due, but no, never again. Brussels sprouts side over fries or o’rings any day. Spinach a close second. Service is friendly and responsive. The restaurant is often busy, with long waits. The full bar is popular as well. It’s pretty much a one-room restaurant indoors, and more than half of their seating outdoors (covered, enclosed, heated patio). Indoors is very noisy when full, and some of the tables are very small and the seating tight.
